Ever bought a pistol with the expectation of it being a perfect fit for you? Then found yourself either completely underwhelmed or just luke warm about it within the first couple shooting sessions?

For me:

Stoeger Cougar in 9mm. Felt great, loved the idea of the rotating barrel....I just couldn't shoot it worth a darn even off a sandbag.

Para Ordnance GI Expert, I have had this out about 5 times now and am just starting to get it to run. Out of the box, it, and what they would call magazines were the worst I have had to experience. Mags were easy to fix, just throw them away. The pistol still needs some work, but is reliable enough not to take a chop saw to it.

Sig P228. I wanted to like it, and it was always reliable. However, didn't like the blockiness, high bore axis, placement of controls, feel of the trigger, or mediocre accuracy (for me). My CZ PCR just does everything so much better so I shoot and carry that.

Well speaking of Stoeger, by far the most disappointing gun I ever bought was a Stoeger Luger .22lr. Absolute jamomatic, pure junk. Sent it back to the factory and what they sent back still didn't work. This was almost 40 years ago and I still hate Stoeger.

S&W Bodyguard .38. I loved the feel, the weight, the price was right & the laser was bonus. Unfortunately, shooting it was less then joyous. It hurt, I was about 6 inches high, the laser was useless and .38 ammo is significantly more expensive then 9mm.

It's a tossup between the Llama .22 and the Llama .380 I had. Both sucked equally... (the mini-1911 ones...) They tossed the empties right in my face along with burning bits of powder... and the .380 didn't feed well, either.

Mark III Competition slabside.

It's just not "magically" more accurate than my Mark II standard model.

Most of the polymer framed ones..........they don't ever really find a place in my heart like a 1911, BHP, old S&W or Colt revolvers, etc.

Only a couple dozen times...

--Four Kel-Tecs
--Half a dozen j-frames in a variety of frame materials
--Several Scandium framed L and N frames
--At least two Glocks
--Several steel framed mini-1911s
--Three Springfield 1911s
--Three Colt 1911s
...and a few others I am forgetting at the moment.

Yeah, I do a lot of buy, try and sell. Since I'm generally a smart shopper (buying used at a decent price) I don't often lose much on the transactions, so no real harm done.

And after all that wheeling and dealing, I've found a few keepers, so I'm happy.

Yep, CZ RAMI 2075P

really liked the gun. It fit my hand well, had desired magazine capacity, and also had the ability to be carried cocked and locked. However, I wound up being disappointed with the pistol and only kept it for about six weeks. I found the trigger to be gritty feeling and experienced FTF on virtually every other round. I changed magazines and tried many different types of ammunition (Corbon, Hornaday, Winchester, Remington) none of which worked. The gun was far too selective on ammunition for me. The only ammunition this gun would consistently feed was Spper Gold Dot. I returned the gun to my LGS and traded it for a Springfield XDM 3.8 which has worked flawlessly.

Initially, My Ruger MK3. The trigger was creepy and wouldn't alway reset properly. I pulled it apart and polished/deburred everything. Also had to straighten the trigger bar. It is much improved and I actually enjoy shooting it now. It still needs a over-travel adjustable trigger.

so far, the S&W Sigma 9VE I bought FTF for my dad. He likes it well enough, to the point where he keeps it loaded with two more mags on tap next to his lazyboy. I've shot it, being his in-house gun-monkey and all, and I'm not impressed. I only paid $160 for it, but still...it's not much to write home about. Kinda ugly like a Glock, but shinier.

My Colt enhansed combat comander,I lusted after it for a long time and after I
spent the money I had to many feed issues for a gun of that quality and price. The only thing it feed well was hollow points wich was great except the expence.Wad cuters for get it,Fmj some times. My smith could'nt get it to run.
So I replaced it with Traditional 1911 with a standard feed ramp.
Dont get me wrong I love Colts just not that one.

Jennings J-22 pistol.
Cheap as it was, I figured it should have worked better than single shot manually operated for at least ONE magazineful of cartridges.
That never happened the whole time I owned the gun.
Not going to mention what body of water it now resides in.

smith 442. after all the glowing reviews of j-frames on here, i wanted one. what a mistake. the trigger must've been over 18lbs. i mean, truly atrocious, to the point where smith should've been ****ing embarrassed. recoil was nasty.

interesting. my 22/45 has a super light, nice trigger that has only gotten better as the round count on it increases. if that sucker is over 3lbs now i'd be surprised. it does have a bit of creep though, but i think the only guns i've fired that don't have creep are 1911's and revolvers in SA.

I wasn't in love with my 22/45 until I broke it down and did a thorough cleaning (which I put off for the first couple range sessions). Now I couldn't imagine enjoying a 22 pistol much more than the 22/45. It's just so extremely accurate and fun.....I take it out every time I go to the range.

I was a bit disappointed after having read all the rave reviews of the CZ75B, to discover that the trigger is pretty poor, and that one would have to invest a significant sum of money into the gun to bring it up to par. There's something about having to put money into a brand-new gun that just doesn't seem right to me. (Ditto for the Ruger 10/22)

But that's just me.

Funny you would start the thread with the Stoeger Cougar. I have one that I don't get along with.

Super gun--solid, great grip, heck of a bargain. I still say it's a $750 pistol for $400. But I just can't hit anything with it. I thought it was defective, as I was getting 6" groupings at 7 yards. When the rangemaster proceeded to put all 15 rounds of my next mag into about 1.5 inches, I knew the pistol simply wasn't a good fit for me. Damn shame. When I get around to selling it, its going to make someone else pretty happy...

Smith and Wesson 642. Heavy trigger pull and painful to shoot. I sold it and bought a Charter Arms Undercover and a Heritage Roughrider.

Auto-Ordnance

Auto Ordnance 1911, jam-o-matic, front sight fell off, sold it. BIG disapointment, my first new pistol I ever bought as a young GI. Pretty much turned me off on the 1911 platform. Walther, HK, Glock owner now..

I have owned a number of 10/22s over the years.
To a rifle I have to agree they have all been underwhelming in accuracy.
