VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Police in a Vancouver suburb reminded residents on Tuesday it was not a good idea to play with a loaded gun while using the bathroom, after a man accidentally shot himself.

A 21-year-old North Vancouver man was facing numerous weapons charges after he shot off one of his fingers while apparently playing with a gun on New Year's Day, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

"Perhaps, our mothers never explained to us that it was not a good idea to play with handguns whilst using the restroom. But then again, maybe that was supposed to be a given," the Mounties said in a press release.

"This is my rifle, this is my gun. This is for..."

I would rather have done 50 pushups in basic rather than stand in front of the company completing that ditty -- along with the "special effects".

Standing Wolf is right again...

If some worthless no-good company in the United States hadn't made the gun this unfortunate incident would have never happened...:cuss:

But on the other hand, we could blame it on whoever invented restrooms... :neener:

Remember the  finds work for idle hands...

Is that a pistol in your pocket or...

Oh make up your own endings, I'm having too much fun with my versions. :p

I predict Vancouver will soon make the suggestion one should not play with guns whilst playing with their "Rubber Ducky" .

Go ahead and snicker...just you wait.

If an American cop made a statement to the press like this he would be suspended and sent to sensitivity training and possibly even fired, especially if it was on video.
How come Canadian cops are allowed to have a sense of humor

Because they aren't allowed to have much else?

Something similar happened this year at a gunshow.Apparently the guy hung his pistol on the coat hook by the trigger guard while he did his business and somehow managed to fire 3 shots as he retrieved it (bump firing on the hook?),blowing of some fingers.I'll dig around and see if I can find the article.

Fair enough then

A couple of months ago somebody brought up the topic of what to do with your gun while using a public restroom.
It was closed down as off topic fairly quickly, maybe we should revisit that subject
