Got a set of mounts for my "new" 52 Winchester (1926) and the hole spacing is wrong. Even if they were correct, the scope would be so far forward it would have to have a LER scope. Anyone know if there was a set for the original 52, other than target blocks?
Thinking I might have to do some fabricating to put the rings five or so inches back rather than on the barrel. Drilling the action is out.
Original target scopes with mount adjustments start around $500 and go through the roof.
First trials will be with the 94 year old sights and my 76 year old eyes.
Sorting ammo by rim thickness while I'm quarantined waiting for more tests.

Found an old Burris 2 3/4X long eye relief scope and mounted it on the "wrong" mounts using one screw each.I
Now I can see if there is potential in the old 52. Fun, fun, fun. First test, Eley club from the last brick I bought for my first 52 in 1978.

It should not be much of an issue to drill new holes in the mounting bases to match up with the existing threaded holes in the receiver. Running with only 1 screw is begging for something to move or get broken.

Now that I know it will work, new holes are next.

Found a long, Picatinny rail drilled to die the 52s holes. Took off the back sight, mounted the rail and now it wears a 6-24x target scope. If the weather cooperates this week I'll see what a 94 year old 22 will do.
Lots of match ammo to try.

After using the colimator, had to shim the mount to get the crosshairs even close to zero. Now, finally ready to see what the old rifle will do.
