Multiple guns in the same caliber.

Gotta bunch of 22 rimfires. Single shot, semi-auto, bolt, and lever action rifles. Quite a few handguns in semi-auto and revolver, no single shots. Maybe I should get a Contender or Crickett pistol.

I have 3 Glocks and a PC Carbine in 9mm.
I have 3 S&W revolvers in .38 Special
I have 3 S&W revolvers in .357 Magnum, which also shoot .38 Spl.
I also have 2 rifles in .357 Magnum.
I have 2 rifles in 30-30.

I have a bunch of guns in the same caliber. Just seems like common sense to me, especially if you reload.

For any guns you might carry, it just seems like a given to have at least one exact duplicate. Same for anything you might hunt with.

With guns like Glocks, and some others, it also makes a lot of sense when it comes to accessories. My 17's, 19's, and 26's, can all use the same 17 mags. All the smaller guns in the same family can use the mags from the larger guns above them. Helps keep things simple.

Well... I have 13 10mm pistols, 11 9mm pistols, 10 45acp pistols, 9 380acp pistols, 5 40s&w pistols, 5 22lr pistols, 2 44 mag pistols, 2 44 special pistols, and 2 38 special pistols.

Hi...
I have multiple firearms in just about every handgun caliber except .40S&W and .375SuperMag. One each seems to be sufficient in those calibers.
I have at least six .357Mag, four .44Mag, three .41Mag, four .45Colt and three .45ACP handguns.
Only two 9mm, .38Spl and .22LR handguns.
Most rifle calibers are only one example in each caliber except I do have two rifles in 7.62x 39 and three in 7mm Mauser.
Multiple shotguns in 12ga but only one in 20ga.

I have several pistol calibers that I have more than one of, and a couple of rifle calibers.

A better question would be: "Who doesn't have multiple guns in the same caliber?
Before this thread I never really thought about it, but the only duplicates I have are AR’s. I had two .22 rifles, gave one to my S-I-L.

At one time I had over 70 guns. Cut that back to less than a dozen, but the ones I have are really nice. I’ve swapped quantity for quality. Guys say they can’t afford a nice scope, but they have 20 guns in the safe that haven’t seen daylight in years.

I used to have centerfire rifles with good scopes and .22’s with crap scopes. Also, my muzzle loader that I deer hunted with had a cheaper scope. Lost the chance to get a huge (14 point) buck that I had been after for years because the scope fogged. It occurred to me that the guns I used the most had the worst scopes.

Sold the guns I didn’t use and bought Leupold VX-III’s and VX-3’s. My .22 has a $500 scope.

I have a lot of overlap with rifles and handguns in the WCF area. I also have several .22 rifles, but only one single-shot, breaktop Stevens handgun.

Three 45 acps of different sizes and material make.
Four 357's of different frame sizes, barrel lengths, and one is a lever action.
Three 10mm Autos, one is a carbine.
One 38 Super.
One 22lr rifle
Five 9mm pistols of varying sizes and materials.
Two 460 S&W Magnums, one is a revolver and the other a Ruger No 1.
One 8mm French Ordinance revolver Model 1892.
One 32 S&W long.

I like different cartridges and different sized guns for those cartridges. They all do little things better than the others, but I have considered selling some of them off.

Well, I checked and there are only two examples of calibers where I do not have multiple guns, 44 and 45 Colt. I have just one gun for each of those calibers.

Interesting question, with slightly different answers to the question "same caliber" versus "same cartridge."

For example, I have several rifles in .264/6.5mm caliber in three different cartridges: .260 Rem (1), .260 Ackley Improved (2) and 6.5 PRC (1). To complicate the game, I can shoot .260 Rem ammo through the two .260 Ackleys.

I could play the same game in 7mm: multiple rifles in the same caliber but different cartridges.

I have multiple revolvers and single shot rifles in .357 and .44 magnum, and pistols and carbines that share not only the same cartridge, but the same Glock magazines.

Revolver(s), semi-auto pistol(s), bolt-action rifle, and semi-auto rifle in .22 LR.

True, I wrote up a paper for the company to intro guns to employees we hire who might not have any experience with guns and I pointed out that you can't make assumptions about the cartridges someone wants to buy when they just name a caliber. I listed about a dozen different cartridges that are all .30 caliber.

I didn't think of that, thanks Legionnaire for pointing that out.
