Just saw a .38 top break at a pawn shop by me; double action and all. Wanted $900 or I'd have bit. Hoping it drops considerably this year.I would love to have a S&W top break to go with my Webleys but no one makes replicas of the double action S&W top breaks. It's got to be double action IMHO.
Today I handled the must have revolver on my list - a S&W 25 in 45colt with a 4" barrel. A 25-6 model in superb condition and priced right out of my reach......
I made a couple of negotiating errors during my conversation with the owner. The first of which was not doing my homework on current pricing. I had a price range but not a specific enough offer. A price range is generally enough info to try and buy stuff but the owner is also a practiced negotiator, which is almost a lost art nowadays, and that threw me off my game a bit. He is also a super nice guy and invited me back to try again.Aghh...I hit “like” before I read your last sentence. Sorry it’s too much money. I know exactly how you feel.
Heres mine !: Well not yet but Father's day is coming up .45 Colt and I just love the looks of it ! They are going for $900+- !

Good luck on your quest. It took me about 8 years to get the 4" 25-9 I was looking for. It was priced a bit higher than I was happy about, but they just don't become available that often. It was my revolver of 2020. It came with the original stocks, but those S&W Targets are like gripping a 2x4. I have Ahrends on it now (Cordia wood). Shoots like a dream.

I have always favored short barrels, two to four inch. A couple years ago we got very lightly used Model 27 8 3/8' traded in. I let it sit for a month or so then I just couldn't stand it any longer and bought it. There was just something about the aesthetics of that long barrel....................................If anything 2021 will be the year of the revolver for me.
Some form of long-barreled 357 I think, ....................
Well it's gonna be another Ruger , a 357, either another Blackhawk or another GP100.
Watching the broker, talked to one of my favorite dealers, exactly what I'm looking for might be a tall order, but no matter which of those 2 models I get, it will be anything but "settlling"
What does "need" have to do with it?Earlier I mentioned that a couple of months ago a customer traded in an unfired Model 10 Classic that I bought for myself. That gun was one of 4 guns that he traded in. Another one of the guns he traded that day was a Model 25 Classic. We sold that gun but the guy that bought it traded it back today. Pretty well used though; almost worn out. Between the original owner and the second owner it's had 56 rounds fired through it.
Anyway, I logged it in and and priced it out for the guy who prints the tags. Since then I've been repeating to myself "I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it."
Okay, maybe I need it. I told the boss not to put in the display case just yet.
I'm going to try to talk myself out of it this evening but, historically, I've never had much success at that.
Need is result you get when you successfully mentally convert rationalization to justification. What does "need" have to do with it?
I reason I really want that .45 Colt "American #3" is the Schofield lock, the caliber and the 3.5" barrel !!! it just looks right .
