I finally got my first set of Snap Caps. I got some in .45 for now, and I guess I needa get some 9mm ones later - Since Glocks can be dry fired, I never bothered w/ em before.

My Springfield TRP cost enough - I figured I should practice all I can to get my money's worth out of the gun's accuracy :p

    Ball and dummy drills

Have a range buddy load your mags for you, occasionally putting a snap cap in place of a loaded round. This does two things. First, exposes any flinch you might have, second it will make you do clearance drills (tap-rack-bang).

    Congrats on your snap caps..

    use them well.

A comment. It has been said that the best real world training for a type 1 or 2 malfunction is "tap, rack, assess" rather than "tap, rack, bang". Programming into muscle memory to always pull the trigger as the end of that sequence could cause you to fire when you shouldn't. A well practiced "tap, rack, ??" doesn't take very long but it does take up some time. In that elapsed time it is possible the circumstances have changed.

I've been in classes with two pretty well known instructors (Chuck Taylor and Gabe Suarez) who teach the "tap, rack, assess" version of malfunction drills.

These comments are not made to hijack the thread, but to open discussion on ideas about how our newly equipped comrade can be put his recently acquired snap caps to best use.
