My AR Family photo

What's you 9mm pistol set up? I am thinking about building one. Recommendations? By the way great collection!

So here’s my AR family photo.
I notice that you tend to favor adjustable stocks. I believe the adjustable stock first came in with the Vietnam-vintage XM177, and that was a bit of a kludge. I'm an old-school purist and I like fixed stocks (specifically the A1 type). Of my 10 AR-type rifles, only one has an adjustable stock, and that's an XM177 clone.

It all depends on the purpose of the rifle. I have five with fixed stocks and two with fixed pistol braces.
The adjustable stocks come in handy on a rifle that will be used for home defense or carried in a vehicle. Also if a rifle will be used in cold and hot weather an adjustable stock allows you to shorten the stock when wearing a heavy coat.
Now when hunting I like a fix. Out of the four rifles I have built for hunting, only one has an adjustable stock.

I like the lowers that take the Glock mags. I prefer an upper with a dust cover. I still need to replace the dust cover with one that has 9mm on it.

I like a hand stop but nothing to big.

I used an upper with a forward assist on this one because 5he bolt is cut for one.

I also like an extended latch on the charging handle.
You need to use a heavy buffer, if not the gun will beat it self up.

Too bad the closest AR is behind 37 Mosins, 56 various other milsurps, 84 22s, and an aircraft carriers supply of Victory revolvers.

One things for sure, anybody inside Gunnys place can be assumed to be armed.

Yea I know
I’m sure it’s not easy for him. But I had to humor him and just accept his answer!

Gunnys the only guy I know who needs a bigger neighborhood to keep all his guns!

I gave a rifle away not long ago, and even thought about downsizing. Then I came to my senses and bought two more rifles, one in 8mm and one in 380. Then I bought a 1000 rounds of 308 and 2375 rounds of 8mm.
And now I’m thinking of my next AR build.:scrutiny:

It must be bad at your house at Christmas. What does one get for a man that has one of everything. Nice collection.

With Gunny it's more like for a man that has multiples of everything!

It's just that ARs are just so fun to plan and build.
I was issued an old M16A1 back in the 1980s and it was truly a piece of junk. I was so happy when I got issued a Mag58. Been back in the States for about 28 years and I avoided ARs like the Plague. I started working part-time in a gunshop and discovered that today's ARs are nothing like what I had previously known. A year and a half later and I've built 4 with #5 rattling around in my head. Really put a shock into my regular shooting buddies (about 20 years together). You should have seen the reactions when I brought my one-and-only Glock to the range! At least that went to my daughter.

If you buy your own presents you are never disappointed. Something that I do and my wife hates.
When I was married, I would tell my wife what I wanted for Christmas. To surprise me, she would buy me something I did not ask for. I would then go out and buy what I wanted. Now days I just buy what I want. I ordered a lot of AR parts and stuff within the last two weeks. Christmas will be good this year.
