Celebrated my 52nd birthday with my dad last night and he presented me with one of his many fine shotguns.

This one was his "working" gun and is far from perfect, but it was customized for him by adding a straight stock, extra engraving, and blacking out the stainless receiver.

It fits me perfectly and points naturally. Can't wait to get it into the field!

Sexy! Enjoy it! theres nothing like having a beautiful working gun.

Ive always really LIKED the Red Labels.
When given was the chance to borrow a RL 12g, or the same guys Krieghoff 16ga for the day.....i took the Krieghoff....but given the chance to have taken one HOME it woulda been the Red Label.
Ive been waiting to see one in good shape here, but they arnt real common.

That's some mighty nice wood there on your "new" Red Label. Congrats on your birthday, your new shotgun, and for having such a generous Dad!

Yes, but they made two versions of the red label. And original version and then another version that came out sometime around 2010 That was supposed to be improved in many ways.

They made two different runs of which, neither were successful; Ruger shotguns are noted for certain quirks. I hope the OP's works flawlessly for him, my 28 gauge did not.

my 12 ga red label was bought used was sent back for "doubling" and has worked well for me... have not shot it for a while but fear the lack of support... but like the gun still!
