My Daughter's First Shooting Experience

Good job!
I might have to get one of the crickets for my son who turns 5 in october.
I let him shoot cb caps through my rem 541 on a range trip on father's day, he got the hang of it quick, but the rifle was way to big for him.

If your walmart still carries guns, they should have the crickets for $99. I bought my daughter one when she was still in the womb and yes I knew it was going to be a girl. She just turned 5 in Feb. I've been debating on whether to take her shooting this summer but I don't think that she has enough of an attention span at this point to allow her to learn anything from it yet. She's very smart but doesn't stay focused for very long.

Great pics! I couldnt enjoy shooting with anyone like I enjoy shooting with my son! You are now bringing up a child that WILL not do something stupid the day she invariably comes accross a firearm, be it a friend who finds their dads pistol or a kid that brings on to school to "show". You are doing a great thing for her, yourself, and America! Way to go!

:D

ok seriously...great job Dad!!

my walmart does have guns - i'll definitely check them out today. after talking with the wife last night, it may be a moot point. she's insisting that the firearm fund is too low right now.:(

xd9fan,

I know; we could start the THR Arranged Marriage Services. This would eliminate the danger of our children marrying lunatic antis.:D:rolleyes::D:rolleyes:

Okay, maybe that is not a great idea, but in this day and age arranged marriages look more and more attractive.

Arranged Marriages

Hmmm.

Well, there is the matter of the dowery.

I dunno.

This could actually work.

With the right kind of Hope Chest . . .

Ever since I saw those cute little cricket rifles at a gunshow, I swore I would get one for my kids. I almost wished I would have a girl, so I could buy her pink guns.

Great pics! That big grin says it all. What a contrast to when I was at the range recently and some guy was "teaching" his little girl to shoot by repeatedly berating her failings instead of encouraging what she was doing well. I felt sorry for the kid.

Looks like she had a ton of fun!

Whoever thought up the idea of a pink childrens rifle is an absolute bloody genius, those little things are EVERYWHERE now. If that person didn't get a promotion or big bonus check, then there just ain't NO justice in the world!

Daughters and Guns

I was at a Gander Mtn a few moths ago and if I had the money I would have gotten her it but I was worried about where to take here to shoot the range I noramly go to is an indoor one and I don't think that'd be a good place to start with her.

Good on 'ya, pops ;)

I'm the proud father of 4 daughters, all of whom can shoot acceptably well. Not all of them are really 'into' it, but they are all familiar enough to safely handle a firearm, and to hit what they're aiming at.

One in particular is an excellent shot :)

I also picked up a cricket for my daughter (though not in pink, got the wood stock). She just turned 3 so Ive got a couple more years till she can use it. THose asking about quality... well you kinda get what you pay for but it is sized right. I shimmed the trigger side to side to eliminate slop, stoned the face of the sear flat, and added a bit of material ala jb-weld to take out some creep. Take it apart you'll see what I mean. The trigger still sucks but its not the worst Ive ever touched anymore. The sights are simple but nice If I were to buy it again I would probably get a Savage Cub or CZ scout.
