My deer

My deer season lasted a total of 1hours and 40minutes I went out at two and shot my deer at 3:40. I'll tell my story now that i skipped to the end I had set in the stand about an hour and a half and had seen 10squirrels and 2 bluejays. I heard some nice steps coming so I knew it wasn't another squirrel and over the ridge came 3 does the first doe was a yearling and then a little fawn came and then a get this a 3 legged doe but back about 25yards I heard another deer I had a good fealing it was a buck because the last doe the 3 legged one kept looking over her shoulder. The does knew I was there they walked right through the trail that I walked through to get to my stand and they were about 5yards from me. The 3 legged doe looked stait up at me I already had my gun up and on my gun rest/ thingamajiger to keep me from falling out so I just sat there like a stone and finnaly they walk on and down came the buck I saw antlers and I said to myself don't look at the antlers,don't look at the antlers,don't look at the antlers just shoot the thing. Shot it strait through the heart it ran about 20 yards and just over the ridge I heard it crash down and I walked over the ridge and gutted him out and dragged it out with the fourwheeler and called it a day. I had some guys that dress tons of deer in the season(yes i dress my own deer I donated this one) and they said it would go 130 its and 8 pointer almost a nine pointer It's my second buck ever maybe I'll get a bigger one tomorrow.

30 minute hunt

This is what I like to see, some good huntin" storys. I am headed out for a few days to hunt out of the stand where this deer was taken on opening day (not by me doggonit) in central Tx.

Yesterday morning I was at an area closer to where I live. Three doe came down the hill behind my tree stand, several years ago I put up an old rear view mirror aimed where I can see behind me. Several times over the years deer have come down the hill from someone elses property and walk within 8 to 15 ft of my tree stand. Previously Id never been able to see them until they were passed me and headed away.

I heard all of the noise and hoped it might be a big 10 or 12 pt buck we sighted following does last week, so I had my 44 mag pistol ready for a very close shot. I watched in the mirror and saw the three doe slowly moving in. They got wind of me or the deer esterus I had put out. Whatever it was they didnt like it, the biggest one turned snorted and slowly moved back where they came from.

I really thought Id descented myself very well and I was wearing thick coveralls. I think I may have put out some scent that had some dominant buck urine in it. Sometimes I have combined near empty bottles. Now I wonder if I am scaring deer this way. I busted a buck last week because he stopped when he crossed my scent trail Id left by spraying the bottom of my shoes on the way to the stand. I was in my stand just 30 minutes to take him.

Maybe doe are just spooky.
