I am writing to urge you to vote against H.R. 2640. This bill accomplishes nothing of real value and will cost the taxpayers a tremendous amount of money. It is simply a way to prohibit even more law-abiding American Citizens from legally owning firearms. Our own American heroes, the veterans who have served our country, would be one of the groups most affected by this bill.

Second Amendment issues are the single most important voting issue to me in each election. I hope that I can count on you to help protect and defend our most important rights.

I would appreciate a quick note or email from a staffer indicating which way you intend to vote on this bill.

I must've been gone longer than I thought, what makes the NICS Improvement bill bad now? What I heard was that it took veterans out of beined denied their gun rights, removed background check fees, and made it easier for people to get their Second Amendment rights back.

What changed?

Here's a problem

The VA has submitted thousands of veterans to the prohibited list allegedly under the Brady Bill. The problem is the Brady Act states a person must have been adjudicated incompetent to be submitted. That means the person must appear before a judge and be declared incompetent. The VA has taken the position that a medical review board can do the same thing. That violates the act. Another concern is any person who wishes to be taken off the list under the NICS Improvement Bill will need a good lawyer and a lot of cash. You cant sit down with that same illegal medical review board and be taken off the list.
