Started life as a pretty stock DSA STG-58A Austrian FAL, save the furniture. Replaced the rear sight with a windage-knob Para type, 16.25" Badger Ordnance barrel, Belgian flashhider, DSA alloy lower, Penguin buttstock adapted for a steel buttplate for a slightly shorter length of pull.

I'd thought I'd put an index washer in the box to replace the carry handle with, but it must've fallen out somewhere. No matter. I can swap that out myself.

The weapon is five inches shorter and a pound lighter than I remember it. It's just so cool and handy now, and the shorter LOP makes it faster to shoulder as well.

*HAPPY DANCE*

I've been waiting for this since I shipped it to ARS at the end of March. Mark Graham, the Gunplumber, has a long waiting list and is back-ordered, but the man does top notch work and I will be using ARS again in the future.

Thumbs up.

FALs are the one rifle that most makes me wish I was right eye dominant. I don't have a lot of experience with them, but just from what little I've handled of them and what I know about the placement of their controls, it doesn't seem like the rifle was set up for southpaw shooters :( :banghead:

Nice rifle though

What do you mean? I'm left handed, very much so.

The charging handle is on the wrong side, but you don't need to use it but once. You hit the magazine release with your right thumb, and remove the mag with your right hand.

After replacing it, you hit the bolt release with your left trigger finger (if you can reach; you might have to get your thumb up there, but it's still fast) and you're back in business. FAL never spits brass in my face or anything.

I love ARS's work. So far I have 3 FALS they built, 1 870, 1 Browning HighPower, and 1 1911. Not to mention a couple of C&R guns I purchased from Mark directly. I have a list of guns I want him to work on.

THIS is my rear sight.

They used to, but no longer make a version that's similar but didn't have the windage knob. I would've preferred this, as while the knob makes it easy to zero, it makes it more likely of having your zero accidentally upset, too.

It has a small and large aperature, like the M16A2, compared to the standard para rear sight. On this sight, the two aperatures are ranged for 150 and 250 meters, I believe.

it is a beut, now go and skuff (SP?) it up on an adventure! The FWRA was not meant to be idle.

Did Mark regulate the sights?

Many short barrels with DSA Para sights shoot low, I had to file my front sight to a nub, it wouldnt screw in low enough.

Have you shot it yet?

How does it shoot?

Alas, I cannot yet say. I'm off for tomorrow, then Monday I have to go back to work for four days. Even then, I've yet to locate a proper rifle range so I can zero the sights (the indoor range at Impact is too short for this purpose). To top it off, I unfortunately had to leave all of my ammo in Michigan when I moved out here. Bulk .308 is hard to find here, and I've got to make sure my month's bills are cleared before I order online.

*sigh* This working stiff stuff sucks.

Volunteer Ordnance Works sells one like that. Link Here

mr. Nightcrawler, what a finest piece of military hardware you got there. This surely does look pretty. Thumbs up. It makes me almost wish for a FAL with red dot or something.
