I bought a set of cherrywood Ajax grips from a THR member for my wife's commander and they looked so good I thought I'd try my hand at some glamour shots.:D

There was about 30 seconds of daylight left so i ran out and snapped these quickly... whaddaya think?

    Nice pics!

Not sure I like the mag resting on the gun like that though, but I like where you set up the shot and the light is nice. I like the bottom one the best, I think because you got in a little closer. Considering you were pressed for time I think you did a good job, keep it up! Also watch out for your shadow when the light is behind you like that, unless you want add a little of yourself to your artwork;)

    Oh BTW nice gun:D

I think the mag resting on the top looks bad. Maybe laying in front of the grip/frame?

You might want to try out the macro setting on the camera if you have one. With sunlight like that you can get some AMAZING pictures.

They do look nice. I think there would be better balance if the magazine was below the gun, rather than above it and parallel to the slide.

Very nice pics, 1K. Keep on shootin' those guns. Pun intended...

Yes, there is a place for all of God's creatures: right next to the potatoes and gravy.

Try to not get your own shadow in the pic, just a pointer.

    I thought I was... LOL
And my shadow's not in the photo, consarnit! :D

The light's coming from the right, and my shadow is running to my left out of the frame.

I can see what you mean about the mag... I wanted it in there somewhere but it wouldn't stay anywhere but where it is in the pics. Next time I'll take a minute and set up a better composition.

Try a different background. But you did good using the light to keep shadows off the object.

Wait, does Colt still make 1911's? I was under the impression they didn't. :p

The MK IV is like the civilian 1911 by colt... My grampa has 2 (series 70 and 80).

    Gotta love em' :D

    Awesome photos!
Might I suggest some different angles? maybe catch a slight glare from the sunset..
