My first Precision rilfe, remy 700 sps tac, Im pretty happy with it

It has came together nicely, will add badger bolt knob and maybe suppressor, upgrade to stock is probably first on list, what are some good ones. I had the scope installed and bore sighted but the guy told me to sight in at 25 yards , tell me the proper way of sighting in at twenty five yards then moving further out, its kinda confusing right now but trying to put it all together. am I suppose to be dead on at 25 or high at 100 just trying to get the most out of the rifle and scope. Im trying to set myself up for success with my first precision build , what is the best factory ammo to sight in and use primarily until I start reloading. well enough talk, here are pics and specs , not like you all have not seen one before , but this one is mine. no I dont reload yet but might need to start,wondering what the best factory ammo is, to see how this thing shoots , probably federal gold medal match in 175 grain im guessing

168 Federal Gold Medal Match is the "gold standard" in factory loading. Georgia Arms and Black Hills also make a nice 168 gr match load.

For sighting in (getting on paper) feel free to use the Cheap Federal 150 grain stuff from Walmart. Won't hurt a thing, and will get you very close to where you want to be at 100 yards. And you'll have a box of brass ready fo you first reloads.

Do you have a longer range to shoot at? 100 yards will get pretty boring with that rig.

Well I wouldn't even worry about 500yds yet. Learn the rifle at 100-200yds then slowly work your way back. That doesn't mean shoot a sub moa group at a 100 and scoot back. Make sub moa a norm. That's what I do anyways. When you get to the point where you are ready for long range if you look hard enough you can find a spot. As for ammo, black hills is exceptional. You could never acquire the same consistency and accuracy as reloading though. Reloading will really tell you how accurate your rifle+you can be and with that rifle that's pretty darn good.

As far as stocks go, it's a matter of how much you want to spend, and what type(s) of shooting you plan to do. The Bell & Carlson Light Tactical stock is very popular and reasonably priced, and represents an improvement over the factory stock. At the other end of the spectrum, the Accuracy International Chassis System (AICS) is highly regarded and will make your credit card beg for mercy!

For factory ammo, either Federal GMM (168 or 175 grain) or Black Hills Match are the way to go for extreme accuracy.

I'd concentrate on learning to use what you've got to its potential, before you worry about spending a lot of money on upgrades.

STOCK: I'd go mcmillan (a5) or HS precision for a stock. just make sure you get a good free float channel (and i'd bed the reciever). between those two companies you'll find what you want at the best quality.

AMMO: for sighting in, use some 150gr cheapo stuff to get it on paper (and likely some close groups) then move up to the 168 gr match stuff. I actually use prvi partizan and half the price and still get subMOA groups. but as said, federal is the standard. reloading is the way to go if you get super serious, but with match ammo i wouldn't worry about it (just pricey). KEEP THE BARREL COOL

like others have said, before you spend money on upgrades, get some time behind the rifle and find out what you and it are capable of. you've got a good rifle set up and scope. after that you are in the arena of diminishing returns. may be prudent to stop here.

The Micky A5 is the new cream of the crop IMO. As others have said though put some rounds through that bad boy before you technical.

Nice looking rifle. Im back in the search for a precision rifle as I traded mine away a couple years ago. The SPS Tac is one of the ones Im looking at. From what Ive seen they are pretty darn accurate for not a whole lotta money.

I really like the McMillan stocks and am really wanting one for my next rifle. I handled a nice HS Precision at the gun store yesterday on a R-5 Milspec that felt really good as well.
