I've got an 870 express in left hand configuration. Really like it. Took my first small game with a 16. Nice shotgun. I'm jealous!
Actually I'm stupid and the actual price was 385. But it was still worth it. The bluing or park has a nice aged look to it. There's a small gash on the guard but that's character to me. The next day after I bought it I snatched up a 4 boxes of Remington long range express shells for 25 bucks. The boxes got wet but the shells were. Tons of fun to shoot two tubes full of it.
great gun to lose your virginity on, won't be long before you get your 12 ga. Auto... shotguns are so cool...
Nice find! Good price- close to what I paid for this: 1960 Model 12; this one was a safe queen, a collector brought this and about 5 other older shotguns in to a local shop. It has years of gummy WD-40 in it, I plan on meticulously cleaning it up for a winter project. (that and the Savage 755 I got recently.) I am also going to replace the hard-as-a-rock recoil pad, CSMC has new repros. It will be my Vintage Shoot gun for Trap, and might find it's way to the pheasant field, too. I wish this would have been a 16ga. Model 12, but it wouldn't have been $300 then.
Sixteen is an unappreciated gauge; how much of a challenge is ammo (under ordinary circumstances)? Nice catch; enjoy. Moon
