well i picked up the gen4 g23 a few months ago and have put about 1,100 rounds through it so far of various jhp's and fmj including speer lawman, federal champion, federal hst, winchester ranger, gold dots, etc... I even tried it a tac light attached attached.

the only probs i had were extremely erratic ejection, and 3 fte's due to an out of spec extractor. i bought a glock oem extractor at a local shop for $10, put it in, and it completely resolved those two issues. 550 rounds since the extractor change. i had to do the same thing for my gen3 g19 i bought almost two years ago. why glock's been putting out out of spec extractors for this long is truly a mystery. todd greene experience the exact same issue with his gen4 g17. a new extractor solved all his probs too.

the trigger pull was of course gritty and heavy (over 6.5lbs out the box). so, i put in the smoothface 000357 trigger bar assembly (smoothface without the bump, has curved trigger spring engagement).

i called glock, and the tech said there would be no robs with the gen3 trigger bar, but "glock recommends gen4 parts for the gen4 guns". nice scripted response lol.

the new grip texture is an improvement, although not like night&day. i no longer find myself re adjusting my grip every few shots.

i can take or leave the humungous mag release. to be honest, rather like the old style.

the new matte grey parkerized type slide finish is indeed more grippy than the old glossy black one.

it shot tight groups, as accurate as my gen3 g19. i also noticed that i can put the gen3 g19 gills slide assembly on the gen4 frame and it seams to work perfectly. of course you cannot put the gen 4 slide assembly on the gen 3 frame due to the wider diameter recoil assembly. i did not fire it like this, just tried it at home after the range.

the slide cycles much smoother than any gen3 i've owned, and the short grip felt great in my small hands.

Nice, I bought a 22 a while ago. Read a lot about them and decided what the heck.
Never been happier with an autoloader myself. Goes bang every time I want it to.

Good shooting by the way. Kind of feel bad for the guy who breaks in.

Thanks for the report. I have always liked the fish gills. Too bad that is not a factory option for the Gen 4. What kind of erratic ejection? I took one to the forehead last trip with my Gen 4 G22 but only one.

I got hot brass once in the face with mine yesterday too. (one out of 64) I really don't know if it's the pistol or just one round of the Mag Tech ammo I was using. Have never had problems with Mag Tech. Love the gun. Just wish I could fire it as accurately as you apparently do. My groups are somewhat larger.

I bought a Gen 4 17 in November 2011 and never regretted it. It has about 4000 rounds through it now with only 2 failures.. the first bullet i fired with it (FTE) and one I did not resize properly myself (FTL). Doing production class IPSC with it and its quite a good gun for that (for me at least). I did put a lighter "Steuerfeder" for the trigger in the gun.

I kind of miss my ugly little fish gilled 19. I traded it for an XDM-40 and 600 rounds of ammo. I went through the ammo, sold it and bought a gen4 26.

Apparently those extractors are MIM according to another post on here revolving around a problematic gen4 19. I guess I'm one of the lucky few not to have extractor issues, or any other issues for that matter. I'm somewhere around 2500 rounds now, I lost count at 2200.

After reading this post and the other problematic MIM extractor post, I think I may order 2 old style extractors for both of my gen 4's just in case I ever have issue and they become hard to find.

Really? It was a selling point for me. I find it much easier to reach without disturbing my grip as much.

I also have the gen3 smooth faced trigger and the bar hasn't given me any issue. In my gen4 26, however...the bottom of the gen3 smooth faced trigger came in contact with the frame and would cause the trigger to occasionally hang, so I put the factory one back in.

I'm running heinie straight 8's on the gen4 19 and a 10-8 brass bead setup on the 26.

it was sending empties every which way but loose lol. right, left, straight up, straight back in my face  lol

Maybe I should test mine. Like I said, I'm somewhere around 2500 or more rounds, but all of it has been shooting while moving and running drills or such. I honestly have no idea if it is sending brass every which way but loose. I'm going to test it this weekend and actually stand still.

If my gen4 is erratic, I'll run it until it breaks just to see if it is a problem that leads to failures (although that means I'd need to designate one of my gen4's as range only :( ). You've got my curiosity up.

If all it means is that shell ejection is erratic but still dependable, I'm ok with that. I rarely stand still and shoot it so I honestly just don't notice. My son recently shot it for his first time shooting a centerfire pistol. I seem to remember the shells all going to one spot as he stood there shooting. The pile of empties was small enough I stood in one spot to pick them up. I'll run a couple of hundred through it stationary and have my slave labor, errrr kids watch the brass to see how it behaves.

^^i had 3 FTF's in addition to the erratic ejection. so, changing the extractor was a necessity for me. however, if all you have is erratic ejection, and it doesn't bother you, you right there really isn't any reason to change out the extractor.

you've got a decent round count, doubtful it'll start jamming now, if it hasn't yet :)

I'm destined for failure since I jinxed it by participating in this discussion. :uhoh:

Might as well get my order in...
