I purchased one today and went to the range. The pistol is a liitle stiff at first but broke in quickly. I fire a box of Atlanta Arms 380 95 grain and at 7 yards,it was point of aim point of point of impact. Little recoil with the Atlanta Arms or Hornady critical defense. very pleased with it.

Congrats! I'll be watching this for more owner experiences.

Also, pics please ;)

I shot one yesterday.

Now, even though I have a G19, G26 and G33, I am not especially a Glock fan.

Before I shot the G42 I was prepared to not like it.
After shooting it I ordered one that will be in Tuesday.

As you said it's right on and very accurate.
I especially dislike Glock triggers. I like the G42's trigger.

I held the loaded G42 next to my loaded carry Ruger LC9 and the G42 was very noticeably lighter than the LC9.

Today I put a second G42 on order.

Shot one and absolutely loved it...and I am not/was not in the "mood" for a .380 in the house but my Wife is still looking for a "G26 like we have but thinner and not so jumpy in rapid fire"

I have my name on a list (#11) of 40 G42's coming to the local range/LGS overe the next 3 weeks. I'm hoping ours is here late next week as my Wife is squeeling with delight. The last .380 we shot was a Ruger LCP and *this* gun is much more controllable than that.

I cant wait for ours - ordering .380 dies for reloading as soon as the Wife gives me the thumbs up.

I guess I am a little behind the times

This is the first I have heard of the 42. That said, does anyone know if they plan on making it into a single stack 9. I gave my LCP's to my daughter and my wife and gave my LC9 to my daughter. I was thinking about upgrading to a Sig 938 for a small 9mm. If they offered the Glock in 9mm I would have to seriously consider it. I really don't have want or need for another 380 and if I did it would be another LCP.

Glock has been mum as to whether they're going to make a 9mm version of the Glock 42. At minimum, they'd need to reshape the grip, which isn't long enough to accept 9mm Luger rounds.

In the meantime, what about a Walther PPS? Professional-grade and basically the same firing and takedown mechanism of a Glock, but in a 9mm single-stack format.

Depends on how big yer pocket is but I'd say no to pocket carry for most smaller folks...I could carry one but I carry a g26 pocket so YMMV.

I gave $479 for mine but it was at the LGS and I know dang good and well I'm paying a little extra to give the profit to the local guys and I'm good with that...they have 40 coming and all 40 have sold the first week so I doubt they are inclined to cheap them out.:)

I researched it a bit and I think the single stack 9mm from Glock will *not* be a G42 retooled/hacked to make it 9mm. I believe that there would need to be a lot of changes/mods to make the G42 shoot 9mm reliably as the magazine is way too short for 9mm as would be the mag well and grip/frame. So, I think the single stack 9mm will be a completely different gun not a modified G42.

Agreed, much in the way the Sig p938 is a similar but different gun than the P238.

Vodoun, with him. Purchased one today and same thing to the local gun shop,$498.00 and they had 4 more left. Out of Round's They were but I love the look's of it like said lined up next to my xds45 it will be summertime fun! Have just got my dies in for 380 dillion, and will be gett'en it going!

Shot mine today (picked it up Tuesday) This is one fun gun. With mild reloads you could shoot it all day. BTW, $399.00. The dealer received 9 guns and they're all sold as of today.

Was thinking about getting the new S&W Bodyguard without the laser but now I'm somewhat intrigued by this .380 Glock. Will have to check it out the next time I make the rounds of the area gun shops.

I put several hundred rounds, factory and reloads, through my G42 yesterday at the range.Slide release now very smooth. All rounds functioned with no stopage.Accuracy at 7 yards incredible.Very thin and light.Extemely pleased with it.

Yeah, at 21' (which is what I consider to be optimal/most likely SD distance if not closer) the G42 is a tack driver even in rapid fire. The .380 may not be an optimal SD round but three of them in one second in almost the same hole should suffice if anything will.

Can't wait for the next range session with our new G42.

Thanks for the updates, Vodoun and Byron! There's a lot of .380 subcompacts on the market, but not many others that I've heard referred to as tack drivers. I wasn't excited about the G42 when I first saw the specs, but the more I've read reports like yours, the more interested I am.

Can someone with weak hands pull back the slide of a Glock 42 for loading/unloading and cleaning? The Remington R51 is appealing because the slide is easy to pull back.

Well...my Wife is a small person and has lost a lot of strength due to age, some arthritis, and a battle with cancer. She has survived and thrived but she has not the hand strength she had 20 years ago.

She manages to rack the slide with confidence on the G42. The gun fires from a locked breech and the recoil spring is not as stiff as a blow back gun. That said, the serrations on the back of the G42 slide are not as aggressive as we would like. It's the only negative about the gun.

Dis assembly for cleaning is easy as are all Glocks as you only need to pull the slide back a few millimeters and push the tabs down on each side and the slide comes right off. So, I'd think the G42 is suitable for someone with limited hand strength to the degree that all automatic pistols can be "challenging" in that regard.

I'm not sure about the mag release and slide release as we only got to handle the LGS owners gun. Ours shows up late this week and I'll have more information then.

I Agree. I'am having issues this week w/hands and was wanting to shoot a few and also found the same issue with the groove's. had a hard time. Wonder if a lil. breaking in and a lil. oil might help?

Magazine drop is smooth. The slide relaese took a little breaking in but now is quick.
