My Kahr PM9 15 Yard Target (With Pics)

Hello, everyone.

I carry a Kahr PM9 in my right front pocket everyday. As a Glock/CZ shooter, I initially found it very difficult to become proficient with the little Kahr. However, after about 600-700 rounds of practice, I think I've become pretty decent with the gun.

Below, I've attached a picture of my latest target shot at 15 yards. I fire at a reasonable rate, prob about a little faster than a round per second until the gun locks back. I try to shoot in a semi-realistic manner, drawing the gun from my pocket holster and firing, not single, separately aimed "marksman" style shots. I fired a total of 21 rounds into the head target and 21 rounds into the chest target, which represented the fully loaded pistol (6+1) and the two backup mags (7 each).

I'm definitely not perfect, there was a single flyer over the shoulder and one in the neck below the target, but I consider 15 yards the farthest range for this type of gun. At least for me. Anyhow, your comments are very welcome!

Great shooting. I typically shoot a Beretta 92 FS/92G and the CZ75 B/ P01. I also own a PM9 and I am continually amazed by its accuracy. I have friends that don't like striker-fired handguns, but in the case of the Kahr action, I think it actually enhances its accuracy. The smooth, constant trigger pull helps maintain consistency throughout the trigger pull.

Yeah, initially, I couldn't keep my shots within a 12" x 12" area when I first got the gun. Started getting better when I realized you don't need to stage the Kahr trigger like you do a revolver. Quick deliberate pulls have worked for me.

I was feeling pretty good about myself until I saw the youtube video of the guy who can hit a steel plate every time with his PM9 at 50 yards!

Post that on your front door and you won't have anybody breaking in. Just kidding but I think you should feel safe in your home and just keep going to the range to stay sharp.

And I almost got rid of this little gem early on because I couldn't shoot it well. I'd say you need to give a gun that you don't shoot well at least 500 rounds to really see if it's unworkable.

Well I too just recently bought a PM9 and I must admit compared to my micro .380 it's a snappy little tart.
Still trying to get used to that.
But I certainly like the pistol.
Although my shooting is not yet that good at 15 yards I am getting there.
I am starting to really believe it's past time to get an eye exam and to probably get glasses due to being able to see the the sights fine with my cheapo store bought reading glasses but the target is not so clear.
On the flip side I can put on my shooting safety glasses and the sights are fuzzy but the distant target is clear.
It's Hell getting old.

With the PM9 about the best I can do at 15 yards fast fire is keep it minute of dude. Its good enough but what you have there is just phenomenal...

I have a PM9 and I can't shoot it worth *. I thought it was the gun and handed it to others to try and they could shoot it pretty good. It just doesn't fit my hand or something. So I'm back to revolvers.

I have a steel silouhette (8"X14") that I like shooting, I can get solid hits at 75yrds with it shooting my CW9. I'm impressed with the smooth trigger, and am starting to like the bar dot sights. Couldn't hit it with my G21

Candidly, I never shot that well (in comparison) with mine. But it was far better than with small frame, snubnose revolvers, which resembled a buckshot pattern ... at 100 yards, that is.

I had mine out this week but it didn't look anything like your shooting. It's encouraging that you said with practice you got to this level. A level I might say which is quite impressive. I must practice more.

I'd say keep practicing and you'll get used to the PM9 trigger soon enough. At first, I think my shooting was so crappy because I was pulling the trigger too slowly and waiting for the break. As soon as I started pulling the trigger fast and not trying to stage things, you have a lot more time to focus on aiming.

Very happy with this gun. With pocket carry of this little 9mm so easy, I don't understand why anyone would want to buy a .380

DAMN that is awesome shooting. I have one and there is NO WAY I can shoot like that at 45 feet (15 yards).

Damn, you don't NEED a fullsize gun if you can shoot like that!

This shows what a decent shooter, like you, sir, can do with the PM9. You would likely be even better with the steel frame versions.

The trigger IS different that the of the typical auto or of the typical revo, as you state. Once you get used to it though, things can indeed come together.

Some, like me (owner of three Kahr 9mm pieces....two steel frame), like it....others just cannot get used to it (or don't want to) and poo-poo it. It IS different and it is definitely not for eveyyone.

I recommend a marathon session (like a structured training class) to get used the trigger before one makes a final judgment.

^ I've always had a hankering for a steel pocket 9mm like the Kahr MK9 or this new Kimber Solo Carry. Although I think my next purchase will be an AR-15.
