My letter to THR (long)...

Adam:

Thanks for sharing your story. It is a welcome reminder to the freedoms we enjoy here in America. I welcome you to my native country and would be proud to take you shooting anytime sir!

I've been inviting Adam to the US for a couple of years now. If you can help him move here, please do so. He's worth having as a compatriot.

Let me clarify that my remarks were not meant for Adam personally. I dont know him, well, from Adam. Every report and what I've read indicate he is a fine person and would be an asset in any society he chooses. I'm sure we'd be friends if we ever actually met.
His post brought up collateral issues that maybe should have been dealt with elsewhere.

Visa lottery

We still working on our move (second year in row we played on visa lottery)

I know the anticipation. I myself am going into a second year of sponsoring my wife from Vietnam for a Resident Visa. We got all the paperwork neccessary, the damn consul general at the embassy in Ho Chi Minh City keeps coming up with a different reasons for not approving her visa.

Oleg,
If you could sticky Adam's letter in such a way that we could print it or e-mail it, we, all of us, could forward it to our Congress critters. They could use a wake up call such as this. Especially the dim wit gun grabbers.

grampster

Thank you again. I'm glad that my voice can be somehow useful here. Oleg, we will not give up easily, but it can take some time, since we want to make a move as a whole family.

Rabbi it will be honor for me to meet with you one day. I thought what can I say to bring a little bit of comfort for you. I'm just a simple man, but here is how I can see the things...

The truth about the war is multi-voice chronicle. We the present - day people are still "hungry" of generalizations often made fast and without much thinking. It's still amazing me, because I can see it nearly every day around.
Without the knowledge about the details our voice isn't worth even the broken penny.
A lot was made and we still do a lot to cover the details and facts, because it can be against our "the only one" theory.
I never was interested in one - side story telling. I believe i know much more thanks to this method.
There is no single truth about the war. Every report is true and full somehow, but the report of the man that stood just a few steps away and took a part in the same event could be completely different.
The enormity of the evil that war brought put a blood on the hands of every ethnic group and nation in the Eastern Europe.
The evidences and false myths are endless. I can't close my eyes on this fact, because it will not change the truth.
From the other hand many people risked their lifes in heroic attempts of saving others. There was a room for hate and love too.
A lot is changing, but Auschwitz is still a symbol of this era and one of the biggest secrets of the history of Europe.
How such paranoic activity could ever took place?
How many European families are still living from the gold of Auschwitz?
I don't know, but I know one thing.
A lot of marvellous things are going on now in the former camp area.
It's paradox, but from the bottom of the human's history light shows up.
In the near by Church German father Manfred who is organizer of the Christian-Jewish dialogue forum is praying with young Poles on their knees.
Many Poles from the young generation taking part in The March of the Living and welcome Jews with open hearts.
You can find a lot of Asians - they are organizing Buddhistic meditations over there. It's the biggest cemetery and still living symbol for many nations.
I know. I was there. I saw. I touched...
God bless you Rabbi. Shalom and thank you,

Adam

Adam,

Real Americans are not defined by where they are born, but by their thirst for Liberty, and by the just actions they take to acquire it.

By those lights, you have defined yourself as One of Us, and we recognize it as so.

Accordingly, we welcome you, and look forward to you and yours "coming aboard".

When you get to the Philadelphia area, look me up, and I'll give you a tour of where all this got started.

Adam,

You will be welcomed here in America, but to really be a proper American, you're going to have to learn to be just a little less eager to pay taxes! ;)

Adam: You will be very welcome here. You're more American than most Americans.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Word for word. :)

Adam, please PM me here if you're ever near Los Angeles. It would be an honor to hit up the local ranges with you.

Thank you for the letter Adam.

If you ever get close to Kansas City I would be happy to take you and your family to a fine dinner (my wife is an excellent cook) and a trip to the range.

Welcome

Adam,
I welcome your trek to America and hope that you and your family are prosperous and safe.

Some states in our Union sound very much like the Poland you describe but I'm sure you'll pick a good one that isn't a tyrants paradise!

Wow.
Adam, I've seen many posts on many places on the internet over the last 5 years or so from Poles, and I can't say that your attitude about freedom is any different than the rest I've seen. I'm starting to believe that Polish citizens are the only Europeans that want and deserve freedom, as the majority of stuff I've seen come out of other countries, especially in western Europe has been nothing but Marxist drivel.

Godspeed in your journey to the US. I was lucky that my ancestors escaped Poland in the 1860s.

If you don't mind cold weather, you'd fit right in in Wisconsin, where most are of german or Polish ancestry, but our gun laws aren't exactly the best in the nation yet.

Adam -- Thank you for the excellent letter. As much as I hope you can come to the U.S., it's very comforting for me to know that there are folks out there in Europe who can understand the concept of liberty.

We can have without a license a black-powder gun made before 1850 or modern replica of such weapon...

I think this is the true meaning when many U.S. politicians say "I believe in the Second Amendment". As Adam points out, just because we're lucky enough to have been born or moved to the U.S. or other places that still support RKBA, we can't stop our vigilence.

Adam

An excellent post for sure. I hope someone here with contacts at the NRA can get your letter to them.
I wish you and yours the best and if you want to come to the US I hope it will happen.

A blessing on you and yours,

S-

"I don’t know, maybe I could have better chances for the license as a dead victim of violent crime?
I’m not sure about it and I don’t want to check out such possibility, but I know one thing. It’s a "normal" practice here.
In Poland the right to keep arms is reserved and divided between police, prosecutors, judges and politicians. "

Nothing new info for me, the same ???? is here in Hungary (and most parts of Europe, no matter ex-socialist state or not).

But be aware, what if we, pro-gun people all left our countries and go to USA?

The world could not be better if you leave the place of combat:))

Lobby for your gun rights locally.

We had better gun laws in 1991 then in 1945-1991, and since last year we have even better for the average citizen.

And a loaded Colt Navy is better than a bare hand!

Hello Gunhead,
I'm glad that Hungarian brother is here. The above problem is just one of the many reasons for our move, so it's not only about the Polish gun laws...but it's too long to post it here ;)

I send the copy of my letter to the "American Rifleman", but I'm not sure if I had good e-mail address. I hope they received it :)

If we will arrive in America, every two years we want to visit 2-3 new, different states to learn as much as we can about our new country. I will keep you updated about our situation. God bless you all,

Adam

Adam, keep in mind, you are not just moving to freedom. You are now tasked with helping us retain what we have. Wish you could accompany me tonight, its my "freedom night". First I go to the airport and fly a Piper Cherokee plane for an hour or so. Then on the way home, I stop and blow a few hundred rounds at the range, with my very primo Terry Tussey 1911's. Its the two greatest freedoms left in America, love to do them on the same night. BTW, I'm just a working schlub, not a rich guy. But I love my freedoms. Please keep telling your story, so my kids won't have to live them. Welcome to Freedom.

Jarhed, I hope that with the experience I gained here and some historical knowledge I have, I can inform and learn people about the value of the freedom you have over there. I will do what I can...

Adam, congratulations on being an American long before you ride into town. Being an American is a state of mind. You are already more of an American than some current citizens.

I think we have your ammo problems fixed for some time to come. Range times doesn't look like a problem also.

Your choice of a pistol (a fine 1911) shows dignity and class. :D Now we need to hook you up with a day at the range with an M-1 Garand. Now THAT is an American firearm.

Keep us posted on your movements and let us know when you head over.

Adam, your letter and your follow-up posts were eloquent. Even your responses to what could be viewed as a peronsal insult were taking The High Road.

If you should find your way to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a trip to the range is in store for you. Milwaukee has a very large Polish population, and you would find many Poles who feel as you do.

And, if you like Czarnina, we can arrange that, too. ;) (I've grown to like the soup. My wife is 100% Polish, and her father made it fresh for years).

Adam -

God bless and best wishes from a second generation Polish-American who just moved to gun friendly Alabama from gun shy Maryland.

A trip to the FOP range if you ever pass this way.

I wish I could recall some of the Polish phrases my "Buesha" (sp?) used to say but she had a brand new US dollar every time she saw her great grandchildren!
