My M&P Shield Magically Morphed into a CZ 75D Compact

My IWB holster from Alex Boriqua arrived yesterday. I followed Alex's instructions for breaking the holster in, and after one night of holstering the CZ in wax paper the fit seems just about right. I've never owned a holster like this one before, and my first impression out of the box, other than the holster is a thing of beauty, is that it is much lighter than I anticipated. It rode very well for the few hours I had it on last night, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it feels after a full day of carrying (which will have to wait, since we are not allowed to carry at my workplace). Someone said a gun as nice as this one deserves leather, and I think they may have been on to something!

Baby got new grips. After two attempts to contact KSD about their wood grips and getting no answer in reply, I decided to try out some G10 grips. These are the Sunburst/Coyote Color grips from CoolHand that come with screws, o-rings, and wrench -- not too bad. Just a hair long at the bottom of the frame, but not enough to interfere with properly inserting the magazine. I think they look kinda snazzy.

I like those grips ccoyle. I have a holster from Alex too. He makes some very nice stuff.

When my handgun interests only included those chambered in 9x18 Makarov, buying a a CZ-82 immediately sold me on Czech guns-whether handgun or rifle.

As much as I like my Sig P228 ('94) and P6 ('01), the quality might be very similar, but the ergos don't equal the 75D.

Who wouldn’t want a CZ75? Has to be a pretty short list, right?

I only know one guy, and even he is starting to come around

Breaking the firing pin from dry firing was apparently a minor issue with the older guns, but CZ reportedly addressed it years ago.

My experience runs counter to this claim of a “fix”. The roll-pin that retains the firing pin on my 75bd (purchased new last year) got chewed up in a couple weeks of dry firing. At some point the firing pin got locked under the retaining pin and would no longer fire.

The actual “fix” is rather cheap and very simple to install. A solid pin from Cajun (or CZ custom in my case) solves the problem. Definitely love the gun, but would be nice if CZ just installed solid pins at the factory.

Nice collection by the way! Still growing mine...
