the most fun gun I have.

Took four rifles to the range today.

1) VZ2008 (got it sighted in today)
2) Marlin Model 60
3) Marlin 336W
4) Lithgow Lee Enfiled No1 Mk3

To make a long story short. We bought 30 lbs of med potatoes, 3 bags of red apples, and two watermelons.

We shot the potatoes and apples mostly with the .22 LR guns we had there. I was shooting 100 yard potatoes and apples left and right. My Marlin model 60 is just a great shooting gun. With the scope that is on it, the thick part of the reticle that comes to a point before your smaller x-hairs are the aiming point at 100 yards.
At 100 yards I can rest the apple on top of that point, and just blow them up.

The VZ2008 was sighted in with Wolf MC 124 grain HP, and I have a pretty good video of a couple watermelons taking one at 25 yards.
I was shooting potatoes easily @ 50 yards this this ammo/gun combination.

The Marlin 336W was just out to really make noise. It shot good as always. I love to shoot it as well.

The Lee Enfield was there for fun factor. I am still working on it. Somehow my front sight has moved. Also I do not have a loading yet for it.

All in all the VZ and Marlin Model 60 were the guns to shoot today. The Mod 60 just shined. The rifle is a rifle that makes Marlin look good. Of course I help a lot with that also. :)

One hundred yard hits on apples consistently are cause to keep this rifle, huh? When I say consistent, I mean bang, bang, bang, bang, and then there would be four less apples on posts at 100 yards.

If your looking for a .22 LR rifle. Do yourself a favor, and check out a Marlin Mod 60.

I am not affiliated with Marlin in anyway. Just trying to spread the word about a classic .22 LR rifle that still shines.

Mine is a range favorite as well. I'll set up 20ga shotgun shells (they're yellow and easier to see) at the 100yd berm and knock them down. Consider a Speed-D-Loader if you don't already have one; I load it while watching Sportscenter before heading to the range, and will reload during "cold" times if I've got my targets all set up.

OP, what's the problem with stating your whole thought in the title?

this continued practice of ending titles in mid sentence is tiresome, immature, and quite frankly extremely annoying to those browsing potential threads to read and comment upon.

No, problem.
I find it intriguing and curious. I get tired of the "best rifle for the money" or the "9mm vs 45" or the "this many rounds of 9mm vs this many of 45" or the "low cost AR15" titles myself... I find those, um how did you put it?

, but to each his own. Don't like? Don't look.

To the other members who were discussing the Model 60:

I did my own trigger job on my 60. Made a ton in the way it shoots. I don't know what the pull weight is, but it is not to light and breaks really good.

Sometimes when I shoot it. I have to ask myself why I own the other guns I have. It is just a dream to shoot because I have that much confidence in it. I know that out to 100 yards I am dead on with it. Standing or Bench.

Another rifle I have is the same way, but way more expensive to shoot, and is also another Marlin. Darn I sound like a Marlin salesman. My XL7 in .25-06 is dead nuts out to 300 yards. That is the furthest I have shot it, and it was at medium sized game. Both were DRT, and right where I put it. This was out of a 15" ladder stand.

I feel like I want a .223 bolt since I do not have my AR15 anymore, and have a crap load of ammo for that caliber. I need to go look to see if Marlin makes a .223 in the XL bolt guns. That would be great if they did.

Another Model 60 fan here. I got an older Glenfield with the 18 round mag. Feels like you are shooting forever between reloads!

I grew up shooting a Glenfield 9 shot .22LR. A maintenance man at an apartment I had stole it. I couldn't prove it, but I know he did.

I have shot my Marlin 60 more then any gun I own. It is quite fun when you can pick off small objects like fruit at will at 100 yards. I own 2 of the Spee-D-Loader's, so shooting through 224 rounds takes no time at all.

I ran out of stuff to shoot the other day, so just scanned the range for small pieces of things on the ground, (broken clays, broken target posts, bottle caps, can pieces, etc) and would just pick them off. I'm loving rimfire.

I wish all rifles were as accurate and reliable as my 60.

My hundred yard targets are the mini post-it notes. :D
