Last night in a drunkin stuper I started a thread that was way out of character for me and I offended serveral people. That was not my intensions and I don't drink much anymore because of a medical condition called I get really stupid. So please accept my appology and believe that I am a man of sound character. To any VETERANS suffering from the same illness as I am please understand that I didn't mean to make us look bad and other than these two post I have never mentioned my problem. HOOAAHCAV your words were a little harsh but I understand and don't hold them against you as I saw that you are a disabled Vet you had every right to be angry. So there are things that I did not put in my reply to your PM that I sent you but if you would like to have a more civil conversation I will be glad to accomodate you. My sincerest appologie please don't think think I'm that guy on the thread last night.

Now that's taking the "High Road". I thought you were gunkid coming back for more. Just kidding.

No harm, no foul. I figured you were just drunk.

It wasn't my first time being around drunk servicemen. Put plenty of 'em to bed on phonewatch or as duty NCO acting worse than last night. Never held a grudge in the morning. We just laughed it off.

I did not read your post but I think anyone who admits they made a mistake is good in my book. Most of us have said or done something that we regretted later.

I got banned from a forum several years back for getting fresh with the admins' when I was feeling 'good'. I feel good often times, but rarely show my a$$. Don't sweat it.

wow. just read it.. good stuff. :)

It took me a long time, but i finally learned that booze and computers tend to not mix so well. It happens to the best of us sometimes though.

as i said, alot of us (myself included) have done it before. i apologize for my fair share of that thread and being a smart ass.

nor does booze and cell phones... still have a couple ex's pissed at me.

Lots of stress going around these days! We all understand from where it comes. I have had a few blurry posts in my day as well. It is hard being a freedom loving American right now. We all feel like we are waiting for a train wreck.

45B, I saw the thread after it was locked. It happens. I chose not to reenlist in the spring of '07. I googled your MOS - Artillery Repairman.

When I was in Iraq I was just an Airman doing comm-electronics maintenance, and keeping myself on an Air Base surrounded by soldiers (as most of us Airmen do). I can tell you that when the incoming mortars and rockets got going good it was a real comfort hearing the artillery on a nearby FOB sending much bigger stuff back. I'm not sure that there's anything quite like the sound of an artillery battery absolutely letting loose on the enemy.

Having caught but a small glimpse, on those few bad nights, of what you went through every day I can somewhat understand you having the illness you spoke of. Don't worry about the thread you posted last night. I wasn't offended. I was just hoping for better nights for a brother in arms who's still serving. Send a PM if you need anything - even just someone to vent to.

45B I went back and read the thread. I thought it was pretty funny. But then again I find most things funny. I guess thats better than not finding anything to laugh at.

I did the same thing myself one night and after several whiskeys called another poster a "Loose Cannon" and several other names. I went back the next day and erased my post and made my apology.

Like the Forest Gump movie says "Sh*t Happens". It ain't the end of the world.

i didn't read it, but it seems to me that if you were expressing a genuine opinion about something without being condescending, you have nothing to apologize for. people get offended by stupid stuff all the time. and if it was derogatory, it's true that it wouldn't be very "highroad," but we are all adults and this is still an internet forum. if people's feeings really get hurt here i can't imagine how they survive in the real world...

i wish americans would stop being so apologetic about everything. we're here and we're better. go america. go texas. go horns.

and yes i am drunk as i write this too, so maybe i'll recant tomorrow :neener:

Been there, done that, puked on the t-shirt. I had to give up "recreational" drinking when I got out in '89, discovered it was a really bad idea. Takes a big man to take the High Road like that.

No harm no foul 45B, I know how it can be...... Enjoy yourself while you are here. You are among friends you havnt met.

I drink regularily since Ive been back home, I just turn this thing off when I do and set in my garage and tinker with stuff. Keeps me on track, ya know ?

Your good to go man, its cool :)

I learned a while back that alcohol will make my PTSD worse. Now a days I can go at least a few days without the nightmares. But get me drunk and I get them every night for like a week. I have had alcohol once this year back on Easter.

45B...

A wee dram of Internet "small arms fire" once in a while isn't such a bad thing. It's just a reminder the company carries live ammo, that's all. Anyone with some cool can trade a few shots and still enjoy dinner. Good of you to apologize though. Everyone respects that.

Yep, been there, done that !:D

This is great, just goes to prove that you guys are a good bunch, very glad to see that we can pull together even when pissed off. You know, (not saying this in a belittling way) thats why I'd much rather work with a group of guys than a group of gals. We can get t totally PO'ed then get over it pretty quickly, most females don't have that ability. Thats why I try to be nice to all females. I guess God gave guys a forgive and forget button.

Hey no problem; apology accepted; we just try to keep the decorum up with, and spelling/punctuation/grammar/diction is a large part of that.

  1. I used to live in PA, for 21 years. NO offense taken.
  2. I had a lot of problems with carbones, but that was when I was growing up in Rhode Island. Can you even say "carbone" on this site? I thought the dirty word filter caught it. Carbone! Carbone!
  3. 45B@cav, I think you should restart the thread. Firearms, like other tools, have their inherent strengths and weaknesses. I think it would be really useful to get a list of different rifles, and handguns, and summarize their strengths and weaknesses. A good idea might be to first get everyone to agree on the different classifications/characteristics. Obviously there will be differences in rifles vs handguns, but as this is Rifle Country we can stick to rifles.

PS: Hope you are feeling well today. It looks like it's a nice sunny day, so try and get outside and breathe in the clean (though chilly) air.

I have had far more than my fair share of "Failure to Engage Brain BEFORE Shifting Mouth in to Over-Drive-With-After-Burners" moments.

Most of those were ahhhhh Alcohol-Induced and/or Heat of the moment things. Sometimes, I have replayed the events and thought "Why in the Cornbread Hell did I say THAT? ? ? "
