One of my Grandmothers used to shoot gofers because there was a bounty that she could collect by bringing gofer feet someplace in town. There was always a .22 rifle and a string of gofer feet on the wet porch.

My other grandmother used to shoot "at" gators to keep them away from her yard.

That gun is definitely an Ithaca Mod 66 "SuperSingle". Looks like a 20ga version

It's single shot shotgun where the breech opens/closes and locks via the lever (just the thing for someone with arthritis).

Alright, I got to 'fess up here.

Those of you knocking grannie for bringing a groundhog into the kitchen have obviously not ever eaten one. Slow cook them with onions, garlic and 'taters, they're alright. I won't go so far as to say delicacy, but not bad. Dutch oven is just the ticket.
