Well finally got it and put it in an ATI stock which makes a big difference IMHO. It's no longer an ugly duckling. I'm taking it out next weekend to see how she shoots in the new stock.

Question for anyone with a 995, the receiver shroud on mine on the right side near where the shells are ejected the sheet metal has a bit of a ripple. It does not affect anything negatively but it annoys me. Do you think I should ask Hi Point to replace it or just live with it?

I'd just live with the ripple. Consider what the gun is....it's a low budget, no-frills kinda thing that ain't supposed to be pretty. Just a fun gun, and they're REAL good at that!

One more thing. If you ever have to call Hi-Point, don't mention the ATI stock. It doesn't flex and the recoil can hammer/damage the action. Both of my receiver bolts were badly bent.

Hmm, wonder if it needs a thicker recoil buffer pad than the one it comes with. Hi Point is coming out with it's own new stock design next year supposedly. It looks pretty good too. I just cant see how they expect anyone to keep the action in that cheap as heck plastic thing they call a stock when the ATI one is available.

Did you send it back to them in the old stock or did they just send you a new bolt?

does the ripple bother you? if it does have them fix it.

i just got one 2 weeks ago and havnet shot it yet. i do like the look of the ati stocks better than the ugly thing it comes with but hey for under $180 out the door ill leave it as it is.

thinking of cutting the butt off the stock and putting some clips on so it opens and closes.

i can stach a bit of survival gear in there then throw it behind the seat of the truck.

OK here it is now with the sight moved in definitely looks better. I included it's big brother just for gratuitous gun porn. On the ripple yeah it bugs me so I emailed them and will see what they say. It's not worth putting it back in the old stock and sending the whole gun back to them, but if they send me a new one and I can send back the bad one then sure that would be good. mio you would not believe the difference in material between the ATI stock and the original. The original is squishy the ATI is super stiff well worth the $55 IMHO.

lipad i do like it with the sight moved up very nice :)

if i can kill a pop bottle at 50yrds with mine ill leave it like it is the cheap stock really doesnt bother me. to each his own (besides nice to have something in the house as ugly as i am lol)

I had a 995 for a little while.
Probably one of the nicer plinkers that I've had besides my Marlin 60. It wasn't even all that terrible even with the original stock.

Have fun with it ^^

Don't send it back to HiPoint unless it's broken. Every time I sent mine back it cost me $55 shipping. I've got about 12 extra magazines in my drawer "for my trouble".
