Got a new 686-5, .357 mag, 6" barrel. Any one have any info on these, good or bad, revolver looks new, no play in the cylinder. Are there common things to look out for? Paid $650, maybe a little high, not sure.

Well, it's pre-lock and post-MIM. I have a no-dash, post-recall 6" I bought unfired for $550 in January.

It's a beautiful handgun and a pleasure to shoot, enjoy.

With unleaded revolver looking from front press on cylinder from left side with finger if there is no detectable movement between yoke/crane and frame you got a good one.

Congrats!!!

I bought a 686-5 Plus earlier this year and its my grail gun - I just love it.

Use her in good health!

I was gong to get the 4" 686 no dash, but something didnt seem right, when i saw the 686-5, 6", I heard music and we ran to eachother in slow motion. lol :)

Okay -- what is the difference between a 686-5 Plus and a 687 ?

My 687 - sent to Jack Weigand for his "Tame the Beast" conversion - second sweetest revolver I own.

Here's my 686-5 that I have used for Whitetail hunting. 8 3/8" barrel does well with 180+ grain bullets. Offhand at 100 yards, it is not uncommon to hit 6/6 shots on a 8x10 steel plate.
