After 43 years I now have in my hands my second 1861 Colt Navy and I do love it. I bought my first in 1964 when I was 16 from a pawn shop. I had to part with it in 1971 due to the need to pay for a honeymoon.
What I have learned since:
While you are single collect as many toys as you can.
Even if it means prostituting yourself never sell a toy to finance a wedding or honeymoon.
Toys accumulated must never be converted into furniture, kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels, or baby beds.
Never sell a toy until you have another toy to buy.
Never sell a toy to finance a child's education. If they want to become educated they will find a better way.
Never sell a toy to bail a child out of jail.
Use your accumulated wealth of toys to bribe your grandson into becoming a proper Man. " If you become what I consider to be a Good and honorable Man you will get all of this. If you don't I'm selling it all and pissing away the money".

I'm 65 and still recovering from not listening to this advice when I was a pup.

Good advice.

However,

THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICTURES!!! (of the 1861, not the kids or grandkids.)

I was going to mention that!!! But Strawhat beat me to it. :)

The 61' Navy, the 62' Police and the 60' Army have got to have the cleanest lines of any revolver or for that matter any handgun built before or since.

LOL Hope the weather is giving you a chance to enjoy the feel of her kick, the scent of her hot breath and her view to a kill :)

I've learned to put the Lord first and not obsess over toys. Lost too many of them to count. They are nice, but not as important as feeding my children or having a roof over my family's head. Indeed, that's their secondary purpose, to be liquidated when a need arises, like gold.

The '61 Navy is one of the finest and best looking revolvers made by Colt, enjoy it.

I'm assuming there was a lot of satire in the OP's post (toys over family).

The Colt Navies are some of the best. I have a brace of 51s that are two of my favorites. I've traded and sold a few 61s (2nd Gens), but never kept one as I just couldn't bare to shelve my other Navies and you can only justify so many (or at least I can only justify so many). I have put pre-ban elephant ivory on my keepers.

Toys accumulated must never be converted into furniture, kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels, or baby beds.

Funny - I did sell a Signature Series Walker to put Chrome on a Harley :neener: I loved the gun, had some of the nicest grips I have seen on one. It was a piece I picked up trading and really had zero dollars in it by the time the dust settled. It sat in a gun case for 4 years - was just to big for my shooting interest. Mama likes the chrome - so everybody is happy

Need pics, did you get an original, 2nd Gen, Signature Series, or other.

I agree Poncho, sometimes you look back and say why did I get rid of that one. Mine was a 2nd Generation 51 Navy 'C" series, that I mowed lawns back in the 70's to buy and what a beautiful revolver and a great shooter it was. Guy offered me some money and a trade for it (in 1982 a then brand new Hatfield longrifle because, "You can't hunt deer with that revolver its illegal" crap I was feed, that is long gone also) and off it went. Now, because I'm so well edj-U-macated my other 2nd generations Colts just sit in glass cases. :banghead:

Just got in the mail a set of Track of the Wolf stainless nipples for the 61 here to fore to be referred to as the Queen. I once again can without question refer this company they are human and knowledgeable .
Now if only the weather would let up a bit

Good advice there Pancho.

BTW, I received my 1803 Harper's Ferry brass buttplate yesterday. I began fitting it onto my pattern for a half-round 10/22. Presently I am considering flattening the bottom of the buttplate which would make the stock look more like a longrifle.

Here's a pic of The Queen. Helping my friend by posting a pic for him.

The 1861 is easily my favorite Colt revolver (today). Yours is a good looking one. I have a pair of Ubertis, they prefer the .380 diameter ball. Actually, all of my 36's use the .380, it makes stocking round ball easier by using only one size for caliber.

Enjoy your 1861, you have earned the pleasure.
