I picked up a Norinco 1911 GM and have decided to build a custom out of it. Progress thus far includes replacing the grip safety with a Chip McCormick beavertail. Anyone have a recommendation when I get ready to refinish this guy? Thinking NP3 or some other durable finish.

You've started with an excellent base. The Norks are exact replicas of the 1911A1. I've owned four of them...two went to friends and one went to a well-known builder of race-pistols in my area who said he hadn't been able to find "raw" material at a better price. The one I retained is the most accurate .45ACP I've ever owned. I did have the slide finished in matte nickle and it tightened it up just a little bit more.

Excellent values for the money. Good luck with yours!

Try Tripp Research for your refinishing needs .Norinco 1911 they are a good base 1911 to build a custom. Nice job on the Beavertail.:)
