Remington 870 Marine Magnum, with 8 rounds of 00 and 000 buck, 3" stuff, in "cruiser ready" condition, and then whatever high-powered handgun I am closest to...

ain't NOTHING like a shorty shotgun when you need to do a little house clearing!

Mossberg 500c with #4 2 3/4" magnums, backed up by a Colt Detective Special. Then of course theres always a mag loaded for the AR-15 and a stripper clip of 8mm handy, just in case.

1. Benelli M1 Super 90--LE version with plastic field stock & forearm, 6-round mag tube, two 4-rnd quick loads--starts at #8, then 6, 4, 00, 000 progressively.

2. S&W 6096(?) - three mags / 10 with Federal HydraShocks, 165 gr load.

Remmy 870 with 3inch bird or buck and a Gun vault with my GP141. Sometimes my G26 is in there as well.

My primary home defense weapon is my mind...

Formal training and a lot of practice.......That's backed up by a Colt R6920 LE Carbine and a Glock 36. But without either of the backup pieces, I'm not unarmed....You can rarely solve a training and mindset problem with equipment.

Bummer

I couldn't quite answer the poll, as, my primary is a handgun, that I would use to fight my way to my safe where there is a loaded 20ga autoloader, and then a loaded magazine for my saiga. With a youngin running around, my wife won't let me leave loaded long-guns out. I can't say I blame her.

I actually use handgun backed up by shotgun

Cold Python with 130 gr Federal Hydra-Shocks on nightstand.
Remington 870TC under edge of bed with full magazine and empty chamber.

Though I have a couple of rifles...

I live in a fairly populated area with thin walls and my 'dwelling' is small, so CQB is the order of the day. I reside in the hotel I guard each night and pack my .45 auto everywhere.
So I have mainly handguns....my primary duty gun, a Colt CCO, at bedside or on my person. An Officer's model and a Government model is stashed in various locations as are loaded mags.
My girlfriend has her 10/22 loaded with two ten round mags of Stingers by her side of the bed and her Kahr PM9.
It is not the best of worlds, but it'll do...often over the decades one sort of .45 auto has been my primary defense gun whether in the mountains, cities, deserts, humid south or freezing my tush off in the northern climes. I have hunted with it, canoed, rockclimbed, hiked, camped, competed, attended alot of training, and done inner city social work/disaster responses with a .45 auto on my side...and have been quite comfy with it. Do not forsee that changing anytime soon.

I keep my carry gun on the nightstand, a Kimber Compact CDP 1. The plan is for the wife and I to go through the master bath into the room with the safe, and she'll be calling 911 while I switch to a AR with a 30 round mag. Don't have a shotgun yet, have to get one though!

S&W 625 --- those moon clips make it easy to load & unload quickly, plus it's a heck of a shooter.

Maybe I'll move up to my SAR in the future, but a shotgun is probably my next step up -- my only shottie now is my grandfather's old single barrel that "auto-ejects" with each shot and is a future wall-hanger.

My WWII Russian infantry.(3 lg dogs);)
Backed up by,depending on which room I'm in,either a 12 gauge pump or a 357 revolver.Also,in no particular order,a phone,flashlight,loud voice,& the back door.

Primary: 12 gauge 870, loaded with 3 00 buck 2 slugs. Bandolier with 20 of each within arms reach.

Secondary(as in: if the above didn't do it, I might as well take one with me) is my 357 SP101 loaded with 158 gold dots doing 1250fps.

My primary go to gun is my sig229.40 loaded with win. silvertips and two spare mags with silvertips. back-up to that is my S&W m457 .45acp compact loaded with win. JHP and 3 spare mags with same.

Mossberg 500, loaded up with a round of birdshot, then 00 Buck backed up by Kimber Ultra CDP II loaded with speer gold dots and 4 extra mags.

Also have an AR handy, but I only have 1 mag for it so far, need about 2 or 3 dozen more :D

Remington 870 20" with riflesights, and magazine-extention so it takes 7 shells. A bandoleer with 55 shells going downward in size from 00 Buck to simple trap/skeet-shells.

Last time I cleared the house with it after coming home to an invaded home was yesterday. :uhoh:
