I think if I ever get to see one in cold hard steel I might succumb to a Freedom Arms 83 or 97. I did pick up a NAA 22 mag recently. Everything else I lust after is pre-WWII.

“they don’t make them like they used to” sigh

    Mmm.

    Charter Arms Bulldog "Classic"
    S&W Mdl 40
S&W Mdl 10 (4" bull barrel, round butt)
S&W Mdl 21 (3" pencil barrel, round butt)
Ruger Vaquero (4-5/8", stainless, .45 Colt)
    Ruger SP101 (3", .357 Mag)
    S&W Mdl 586 Classic (4")

If I could only pick two, a concealment piece and a belt piece, it'd be a S&W Mdl 40 and a Mdl 21 or Mdl 586.

S&W 442 (no lock, to back up presently owned one)
    S&W 617 4"
    Colt (2020) Python

I'm at the sellin' time o' life, not the buyin' time o' life - but that didnt' stop me from trading a Starfire 30M 9mm and three 15-round magazines for a 1971 Colt Cobra .38Spl. :D:thumbup:

One in for one out I can do. ;)

Same here...then my list changes, yet again. ;)

For instance; I was looking for a photo this morning and came across the photos I took to send to Smith & Wesson regarding all the troubles I was having with a Model 60 Pro. That thing went back to them 4 times to fix the same problems. They finally got it most of the way right then I sold it.
I may remove or revamp my S&W options.

To each their own, right? :D

I sold both my Model 17 and .22 LR Colt Diamondback years ago - more than a couple of decades ago, in fact - for A LOT more than I paid or would care to have paid for either. I sold/traded them both off right after I got my first M101 High Standard. I traded the Model 17 for a Colt Woodsman and still don't regret it. The Ruger 3-screw Single-Six I have and it's newer cousin, a Ruger Mk.III bull barrel, do everything I would ever want a .22 rimfire to do - and what they don't do the High Standard, Woodsman or Contender with its 10" barrel will do.

The Model 17 and Diamondback are both fine revolvers, don't get me wrong. They're accurate, reliable, and easy to handle... but they didn't do what I was most interested in then or now so it's best they went to good homes that would appreciate them. (NB: And yes I did notice the tongue planted firmly in cheek  Not meaning to offend just offering encouragement to others - there's folks like me looking to trade or sell and not always at sky-high prices)

I let my second revolver purchase, an S&W Model 581, acquired in 1983, get away from me, because I thought that bigger bores would be “better.” I later realized that the .357 Magnum was/is ample for defensive needs, and that I have K/L-Frame-sized hands, not N-Frame-sized hands. I realized, too late, that the 581 was a perfect revolving pistol, for me. (“A” perfect is not quite the same as “The” perfect.) I would like to “replace” this one, sooner or later. Now and then, one will pass through a large local collectible-oriented gun store, so, I keep my eyes open. This is the only specific model that is firmly on my to-buy list, subject to passing an inspection regarding fit, finish, and parts wear.

A nice sample of an S&W Model 681 just might serve as a suitable substitute. I came of age during the stainless steel era, and live a short distance from salt water, in humid SE Texas.

Then, I would like to add an S&W Model 586, blued, probably with a 6” barrel.

Otherwise, well, yes, there are plenty of revolvers that would be nice to have, or seem like good ideas, but whether it is reaching the end of my fifties, or some recent significant life events having an influence, lists of specific things seem less important, lately. Single-action revolvers now seem more interesting than DA revolvers, but I have not found myself making a wish list of individual models.

    Revamping my list....Again!
It seems I have discovered the type of gun that just kills my right wrist. I have bad arthritis and my recent fall where I broke my left forearm and sprained my right wrist have caused me to do some reevaluation. Short barreled light guns and hot loads just hurt too much so the list must change.

    Dropping these:
    Ruger Redhawk 5050 .45 ACP / .45 Colt
    Taurus 856
Charter Arms .44 Special 24420 Tiger

    Keeping:
    - Ruger Redhawk 5058 .357 Magnum 8 shot.
    - Ruger Blackhawk Convertible .357 / 9mm.
    - S&W 27 Classic 4” and / or
    - S&W 586 Classic 4” - I am waffling on this one.
    - Heritage Barkeep .22 LR - just ‘cause

The great thing about lists is, they’re not written in stone.

Is it the recoil that bothers you or gripping the handgun?
I like my 357 mag 3" and shoot a lot of 38 special. Still shoot my 41 mag just a lot less.

It’s the snappy recoil. Gripping is fine. My wife actually noticed that my S&W 36 loaded with factory Remington 130 FMJ cartridges seemed to rock my wrist more violently (not sure that’s the right word) than my Vaquero shooting my lively 900 FPS .45 Colt loads or the .45 ACP reloads I made up. 230 grain at approximately 830 FPS (mil spec load estimated)
She mentioned after we got home and I said my wrist was sore.
I do believe the shape of the Ruger grip helps.

I can’t keep SW model numbers straight, so:

SW shrouded hammer ultralight 44 sp snub

    SW j frame 32 HR

Taurus View with metal side plate

    12-shot Cattleman 22 SA

there are many more Smith and Wessons to add to this list, but all of the Smith and Wessons that I want the most seem to be the ones they only made a few of. Smith does know how to torment the connoisseurs and hipsters among us!

Anyone else feel like the Smiths they want the most are the ones that got made the least?

Maybe put this in the "famous last words" category ( ;) )... But given what I already own relative to my finances, I feel totally "bought out" at the moment.

But if I were to snag a minor windfall or something like that, here's a wish list I could entertain:

    -- S&W 325 Night Guard
    -- Some flavor of the S&W 625
    -- S&W 329 Night Guard
-- Some flavor of revolver chambered in .327 Federal Mag

    .

    Revamping my list too.

    Ruger GP100 (stainless, 4", .357 Mag, 6x)
    S&W Mdl 442 (I'd prefer a Mdl 40)

I think a jackpot winning lottery ticket would be a great help.
I think that’s a great list. Mine used to be very similar but I have chipped away at it for years.

I have only 2 on my list, but as soon as I get that, there’ll be another. Always gotta have a list.

    GP100, stainless, .357.

Saw this gun behind the counter in July. I was already purchasing 2 others so I told myself no.

    I regret that!

My lists rarely change but are often added to, lol.

    Here's my short list:

BFR (still undecided on caliber and configuration)
CZ Dan Wesson 715 pistol pack
    Ruger GP100 4"

I'd also LOVE to have the Jeff Quinn commemorative Ruger, but I'm afraid they'll all be sold by the time I get funds together.

I just bought a 29-2 which I over paid for, but I was tired of waiting.

Up next is hopefully a snubby I can carry, old J-frame or maybe Colt agent.

The wife wants a LCR in 327 to take the place of her 38 LCR, at current prices she’s gonna be waiting a while.

    I also want a old nice 22, maybe a S&W 17, and a BFR in 450 Marlin.

Is that to much to ask?

I pretty much had all I wanted and the ones I have about half will remain for a while. In the end, after the kids and grand kids finish getting and being trained in what they want and I have realized the cash for the valuable ones left I have developed a "list" of the last to go. Those are the ones that will be pried out of my cold dead hands and were NOT that high a value but still work for my uses. The revolvers will be :
An exceptional 6" Astra .44 Mag I shot just enough in the 30 years I have had it to know it rivals most S&Ws in performance and beauty and workmanship . It would do all I need of a large revolver to do .
    P1030506_zps1e079b2c.jpg

Probably this little OLD Bridgeport .44 special Charter Arms Bulldog . I have put alot of rounds thru my Bulldogs .44s in others that my sons allready got This one is exceptional accurate and uses the same ammo as the .44 Mag above , in a pinch I'll have ammo even if I cast the bullets and use my Lyman 310 .44spl tool to make it :)
    P1030502%20-%20Copy_zps21683ac7.jpg

Now the final revolver is very hard , probably this one I sighted in 20 years ago and put in my safe, yes it has some value but not much interest by the younger generation . It will do anything the .22 LR can do and is not a valuable S&W or Colt ect. I am also keeping about 3 semi Pistols. But that is another forum.

This is on my short list. I have a 629 w/ a 3" bbl and unfluted cylinder, but have been wanting a true "Dirty Harry" M29 for a while now. No reason why. It's just what I want.
