they are both Arsenal SGL31s. i just decked them out in original Soviet/Afghan War trimmings. basically swapped the top covers, furniture, muzzle brakes (chrome), pistol grips and magazines. oh yeah,,,,,and i swapped out the triggers. the full stock rifle had a Tapco G2 trigger and the sidefolder has a Red Star Arms adjustable trigger.

ive been looking at the arsenal sgl21-73. im strapped for cash now and cant buy one. im also worried about the ATT effecting my ability to own a russian ak, twice worried if obama is re-elected.

im more of a polymer and steel guy but the shine on the handguard of the second pic looks good.

i have about 25 rnds of shooting time behind an ak. i loved it!

Argh! I want an AK74 so bad, but I'm strapped financially, and the mag/ammo cost/availability isn't appealing... But i really just want to dress it up just as you did

The ammo cost is what drew me in along with getting lucky on some Bakelites. Mag prices suck though.

You need more, young Padawan. Once you've spent a day with one, lets just say its religious.

That is an understatement.... lol, The AK is by far the best rifle I had ever laid my hands on.

"It's beautiful because it doesn't have the extra on it; it's simple"~9th Company.

In fact, my Groom cake for my wedding was a 3/4 scale MAK-90.

LOL, yes. I have quite often fantasized about getting a AK stencil for a tattoo, and also get KLSHNKV as a vanity plate.

yep nothing like owning an ak for a few months and feeling confident you could build one from parts.(now just need money for the parts lol)

but yes i absolutely love my milled mak

Skipbo...

Really nice rifles!!

Question:

On the folder, is the plum mag current (k-var) manufacture, or one of the "old school" Bulgarian/Russian mags?

Either way, looks very nice. The reason I ask...I have 2 Russian 45 rd. bakelites, 4 E. German 30 bakelites and 4 Bulgarian Circle 21s... but have been looking (everywhere) for some original "old school" B/R plum mags.

Good looking rifles, Thanx for the pics

I love a well built AK and yours are beautiful. I'd love to spend a day putting rounds through either one.

Something I've found interesting about AKs is that despite the older less customizable design (as compared to an AR) people still love to shoot the things. I've had a lot of friends who've never shot an AK and after putting a mag or two through mine they start putting money away to buy one of their own. Their's just something fun about these Russian workhorses.
