recently I decided to go against my grain & get a 9mm hicap semiauto before the "Obama Rush" kicked into full gear; my favorite guy had an unfired 2004 vintage Glock 17 w/ olive drab frame on consignment; we did the usual horsetrading (he allows 'good' customers to trade for consignment pieces for a 'good' trade-in credit amount since our stuff is in top shape when it comes in & doesn't sit around collecting dust); it came with the usual post-Clinton ban factory 17 round mags;

took it out & ran between 350 to 400 rounds of a variety of bang bang fodder over 2 sessions; seems that I like it alot; snagged 2 boxes of Winchester Ranger-T 147gr jhp stuff to stash & loaded it with Winchester WWB Personal Protection 147gr jhp while I search for sources to increase my Ranger-T stash; now I gotta get serious about how to accessorize it;

with a free Saturday afternoon, a list of local shops to hit, and a plan I get to work; first shop yields a Blackhawk SERPA holster & a different bang-bang acquisition (Uberti Colt 1873 SAA 'Hombre' clone in .45LC); next shop yields a Glock 33 round hi cap mag (last one in shop, but price was kept 'honest' at $35) and some 147gr American Eagle fmj for next range session; third shop yields another Glock 33 round hi cap mag (OBAMA RUSH priced @ $50 :eek: -- last one in the area, so I sucked it up), a Fobus RotoPaddle dual mag pouch & some Blazer .45LC jhp for the Uberti (200gr stuff that is loaded w/ Speer Gold Dot jhp's)

I know, I know...where are the pics...well my digital camera took a dump & no way to share my lucky strike; on a side note: I expected the 33 round mags to be a royal PITA to load, but they only got a bit tough during the last 5 rounds); now I gots to financially recover enough to get some Ranger-T's :evil:

Let those 33-rounders sit for a couple days. They should be easier to top off after that. You could always buy a MagLula too (yeah, I know, more money).

Also, get a threaded barrel from Lone Wolf and a suppressor. :D

I agree with Blued...good idea to let those 33 round magazines sit for a couple of days.

The Glock magazine loading device also helps reduce the pain of cramming those last few rounds into the magazine as well, at least until the mag spring "softens up" a bit.

The MagLULA is worth it. Saves your thumb for more important things like holding your gun steady.

The 33 rounders are pretty cool but I can't imagine ever using them. Definitely too big for CCW use. Kinda hard to wear it in a holster around the house if you want to sit down. But I guess it makes for one heck of a reload! LOL

Just give the mags time, I had a really hard time with my new G30 mags, but I just left them topped off & now the last round is only offering a fair amount of resistance instead of needing the jaws of life to get it in there.

finally got the camera & SD card reader to work w/ Windows Vista :(

pic of complete setup w/ target from today's session; Blazer Brass 115gr fmj x 50 rouds, American Eagle 147gr fmj x 50 rounds, and Winchester Personal Defense 147gr jhp x 50 rounds; all 4 mags used while shooting continuously over 10 minutes w/ one stop to reload 33 round mags; two-handed weaver, tow-handed isoscoles, one-handed strong, and one-handed weak at 7 yards and 10 yards; still need some work on head shots; later
