Just finished my first attempt at making a holster and belt. Being that the movie pale rider is what got me interested in the 1858, and the 1858 got me interested in bp, I had to go with the pale rider type rig, plus there is no tooling. I only have 6 bullets instead of 9, and mine is for 5.5 remie. It’s not perfect, but it is comfortable and am over all happy with how it turned out.

nice work. How are the extra cylinders held in place if for instance you are horseback and fall?

Thanks it was fun yet another hobby, and place to spend money, I have a tandys 5 miles away.
Yeah snakeman probably not horse proof, I don’t want to use snaps, was thinking about a strip of leather with a slot in it, with one of those little brass nobs like on a flask holder. I may leave this rig like it is, the pics I have seen of the movie holster were like this, I am going to make a holster for my 8” remie that is closer looking to the pale rider holster for this belt. My next rig will be more for using, I am more into brown leather, The cylinders may stay in on a horse but the bullets would probably be gone.

The rig is nice but if you are into authenticity that much, shouldn't the rig contain balls & caps in the cylinders not centerfire cartridges? I believe that Eastwood had an accident with cap & ball once so insisted on actual cartridges but wasn't the movie supposed to really portray c&b pistols for the time period?
I may be wrong but that's the way I took it.
