John Lott set our cause back fifty years. Don't quote him, he's a loser who doesn't deserve anything but scorn.

Hey now, don't just do a drive-by without explanation.

While I don't necessarily agree with everything Lott has said or written, I think "our cause" needs someone to hoist the B.S. flag regularly; hardly "... set our cause back fifty years"... Anyway, most of those who read Lott are have already chosen sides.

I dont see how Lott hurt our cause at all. Only thing he has done off the top of my head is fail to turn over some research he did..because his computer crashed and he couldnt recover it (god knows that has happened to me), so the antis used as an opportunity to bash him at every turn.

Outside of that.he is mostly spot on with everything

Here's a Media Myth: Describing somebody's "arsenal", and making a big deal about a pitifully small ammo round count.
If they show pictures, or give details, generally I'm looking at this crappy assembly of 22s and single shot rifles, and shotguns, and
thinking "Pffft! what crap! You couldn't take over a 7/11, with those plonkers! " Meanwhile the media is going on, and on, about this horrid "arsenal".

"Military Grade" is another description which has me rolling my eyes. OH, you mean the bare minimum acceptable rifle, for a military force, which is mass produced, by the lowest contract bidder ? But they blather on and on, about "Military Grade Weapons", like they are fresh from the Korth factory.

Please elaborate. I would like to learn how you came to this conclusion.

Even better would be if you can please cite specific examples of his writing you feel has hurt pro-gun supporters.

My favorite media myth is the one they say 90% of Americans are in favor of universal background checks...and even 70% of NRA members are.

Like they know who is in the NRA to even ask!

Then the one...most NRA members are only members because we get discounts and deals on hotels, rental cars, plane tickets and the like, and dont really care all that much about gun control...

The term “ gun violence” is crap to me.......I can get all kinda violent, but I’ve never seen a gun do so, and blaming the tool and not the person is the jist of it, as it’s totally irresponsibility to not blame the criminal......

You know.some times it’s so bad they act like the guy shooting the gun is some sort of ‘victim ‘ of ‘the violent gun’ and ‘gun culture’ in general.

That was interesting and informative. As with most articles of this nature, the strident disparagement made it more credible.

I'll play. The OP may be referring to when Dr. Lott was found to be using a pseudonym, "Mary Rosh" in online posts to advocate for his positions. That in and of itself may not be a major issue, but it wasn't so much a pseudonym but a character (e.g. "former student") created out of whole cloth. It was kind of a dumb choice, and on the face is a bad look.

That is nothing really. It's a common tactic used through history to make a point when honest debate is lacking. Ben Franklin did it, as did other. He wanted to stir the debate, so I dont see it as a negative.

Of coarse, his distractors see it different. They use it as a punching bag, because they know dang well, they cant win the debate when the emotional elements are left out and just the cold hard facts are all there is to debate.

Your opinion is worth the same as everyone else's. Judging by your taglines, you are just trying to stir the pot. Not very high road if you ask me. But you didn't ask me. I too would love to hear your explanation to justify your position.

IIRC 50 years ago there were no background checks and firearms could be purchased through the mail. I am forced to wonder what cause you consider "ours."

You need to either check your calendar or brush up on math.

50 years ago was 1970. The GCA of 1968 ended the practice of purchasing firearms through the mail.

I find it amusing when gun owners say theres a big difference between assault rifles and AR-15s.

I find it amusing when an anti 2nd amendment person tries to pretend they are pro, 2nd amendment. I wonder if you give the same scrutiny to our other articles of the bill of rights. Most people on here want all of our rights to be left alone.
