Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Steve and I'm from Arizona. I just started getting into guns. So far I've just got a Glock 19, but I really want to get an AR-15 as well.

a buddy of mine who's really into guns said this was the best message board for this kind of stuff :)

You've come to the right place.

The problem here isn't getting info, the problem in sensory overload from the hundreds of people willing to offer advice.

Hint: avoid the following topics to prevent a deluge of debate: 9mm vs. .45, AK vs AR, 1911 vs Glock, or _any_ mention of bears/snakes/mountainlions!

Welcome aboard!

-MV (who recommends a CMMG 14.5/16" mid-length AR-15, A1 sights, VLTOR adjustable Carbine stock)

lol so what is the best gun for killing mountain lions anyway???

Oh dear... we got a live one. ;)

Welcome aboard. The punch bowl is by the band. Please don't spike it, some of us can't drink while we CCW. The restrooms are towards the rear.

All points of view are welcome and we will supply the devil's advocate (possibly several).

cheers!

I beleive that gun was destroyed in return of the jedi.

In demonstrating my nerd-cred, I must point out that the Death Start illustrated above was the first Death Star, which was used in the original Star Wars movie. It was also destroyed at the end of the same movie.

The second Death Star, pictured in Return of the Jedi, was operational, yet not structurally complete.

Welcome aboard!

You'll find a range of experience and attitudes from veterans, active duty military, students, young, old, cops, plain old citizens, men, women, gun toting liberals to hard core conservatives, pink pistol members, a TV show host or two, gun mag writers and about once a year an occasional Eurotrash troll will show up to entertain all of us.

What you WON'T find is a lot of ranting, raving, rudeness and name calling.

The motto here seems to be: "We can disagree without being disagreeable".

Always try the search engine first. Odds are someone else has already asked a similar question and you'll get a faster answer. But don't be afraid to belly up to the bar and ask any question if your answer is not found. Folks here enjoy being helpful and sharing a POV and their experience.

If the folks here don't know the answer they are not shy about referencing people to other sources that can help them.

Welcome, have fun and shoot safe.

so which is better? the 1911 or a glock??
I choose option C. :D

Not from Ruger, but there are Matte black finished SA revolvers out there. Not too many satin stainless jobs, though. IIRC, only the FA revolvers come in matte stainless and are not exactly "cowboys guns".
