I bought an NAA Black Widow with the conversion cylinder the other day. i shot both mag and lr through it. seems to be a good close range revolver (fist size offhand groups at 25 feet). i shot it at some thin junk sheet metal (probably a 16th to an 8th inch thick), the mag made a big dent, but so did the lr, and about the same from the aguila sss. none of them made it through. but the beretta 21a didn't make it through with federal bulk pack high velocity either. here are some pics for comparison.

Nice, I have always been tempted to get one of those NAA mini revolvers. The Black Widow is certainly the model that catches my eye each time I look.

i have the birdshead grip model with the 22mag and lr/short cylinders and it is made like a swiss watch. top quality little revolvers

yes they appear to be very good quality, i just hope the little parts can hold up to me constantly playing with it. either way though, i hear they have a great warranty.

I JUST got mine too, a .22mag/.22lr 1 5/8 barrel with holster grip. So far, I've not accomplished too much accuracy to brag on, but I will comment that it is extremely well built litttle revolver. The action sounds and feels crisp.
I'm getting some tumbling of the .22lr. 30gr Hornady and 33gr Remington .22mag seems to be the most accurate. I'm shooting minute of 2liter bottle consistantly @ 15yds.
You can hide the little bugger in a shirt pocket too.

me too!! I've been shootin' a handfull of .22lr every other day or so. I love .22's

i have the standard mag version with a 1 5/8 barrel and love it. it stays with me with the exception of when im at work. infact just yesterday i was b.s.ing with a guy at work about guns and the subject came up about them he said the same thing great pocket gun he also said his went through the washer and drier with no damage.

I was thinking about making the front sight thinner, for more precision. has anyone done that?

Just a reminder. In the early thirties, J. Edgar wanted a round that would punch through the sheet metal car doors of the day so his G-men could shoot back at fleeing felons. S&W developed the .357 Registered Magnum for that purpose. A .22 LR or WMR from a short barrel is understandedly out of it's element against sheet steel. Ballistic gelatin, people fat, probably some fair penetration.

Stainz

PS The NAA B.W. is neat, however...

Stainz, you are correct, penetration is not the .22's strongpoint, especially from a 2 inch barrel. that and tree branches were the only medium i had at the time. projectiles sure turned to thin slivers of lead in a hurry.

I bought my Black Widow .22 mag used, misfired with Hornady, but fine with CCI. BUT, it started misfiring with CCI recently. So, I contacted NAA via e-mail, respondent suggested I try a new mainspring. They sent one free. On install, I could tell the old spring had a significant amount of sag to it, worn out. New spring, no misfires even on the Hornady PD and it's quite accurate. I don't carry it too often, always have my .22 LR NAA on me, but today I carried the BW as back up to my 9mm on the belt. I like it better as a back up, but I know that at least the little toot is accurate and I can hit the right spot with it. It's not as fast as bigger guns on target, so you give up a bit of effectiveness for the size, but that's always the case with smaller guns that are harder to shoot.

I like the feel of the grip on my Sherrif 1860 22lr/22magnum.It's easy to hold on to and isn't jumpy like the smaller 22lr frame style NAA guns.

Even out of the short barrel NAA, the 22 mag, with a solid jacketed bullet, will give you 12 - 18" of penetration in ballistic gel. 22 mag is not just a 22lr on steroids ... it's a whole nuther nasty animal.

load the lr cylinder with shorts, get ya a lawn chair and plant your butt, and try some unaimed shooting. seems silly, but it does get fun....especially if you got someone to shoot against.
