Hi!
Just relaying from one of Mike Zomber's articles (G&A May 2003),
and adding onto stans' comments above:
Waffenamt 140 is more common than WaA103 or WaA613.
Original finish and
matching SN on frame, slide and barrel
are important, and allow that even the most common fixed-sight
configuration can fetch around
$700.
Expect to pay
about $1250 for the tangent sights config.
Zomber's price estimates above apparently assume excellent condition
of the specimen. The actual price realized may be higher or lower
depending on many factors, of course. There are a boatload of
minor proofmarks that could stand checking, like the 'P', 'MR',
barred crescent, '8', lightning bolt,
et cetera...
maybe stans can help you with that stuff.
If you get it, please, please post some detail photos of it here!
hth, and good luck!
horge
PS: I'm sure stans knows his stuff, and it's just a semantics issue,
but lest we accuse the Belgians of collaborating wholesale with the Nazis...
FN technically didn't produce Hi-Powers/P-35's for the Germans,
at least not of their own free will. The Germans overran Belgium and
(ab)used FN's factory to make P-35's for themselves.
