Now maybe they'll start working on making it legal to hunt big game on Sundays. You guys get screwed on a weekend hunt.

Just a friendly word of caution here folks. "I spoke with a game warden today" does not equal it's legal. When you see it published in the game regulations then you can consider it legal.

Want to hunt deer with a .22lr go for it ! Get your bow out and hunt on sunday. Better chance of seeing deer during bow season anyhow.

They did take the 6 inch, I think it was, minimum requirement off on pistols. Full auto has been prohibited as long as I can remember. But, if there was ever a restriction on rifle barrel length I missed it.

According to the National Firearms Act of 1934, possession a a short-barreled rifle (under 16' barrel) is illegal unless registered with ATF. The state cannot make a federal illegal weapon legal. They can allow you to use one for hunting if it is properly registered and the tax has been paid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act

I seriously doubt that NC or any other state would allow non-registered NFA weapons to be used. Check with the state's attorney general's office.

I didn't see where anyone said the state was making the gun legal, only hunting with the gun.

Unless somebody can show me something to the contrary I don't recall the regulations ever saying anything about rifle barrel length and they still don't.
I think he got that mixed up with changes to pistol barrel length which did change to no restrictions.

Page 42 of the 13-14 NC Regulations, under "Manner of Taking" for Pistol it says there is no caliber or barrel length restrictions. Under Rifle it makes no mention of caliber or barrel length, it says fully automatic is illegal and the law allowing the use of suppressors for hunting went into effect on Aug 1 2013.
That's all it says or does not say.
Here is the link, go to page 42
