Does anyone know of a trustworthy gunsmith/custom shop, who does checkering similar to Ned Christiansen's Conamyd Checkering?

I'm about to have a 1911 Combat Commander customized, and while I'd prefer to have Ned do the checkering, I'd rather not wait the 6 yrs. for his backlog.

Thanks in advance for any info. you can provide.

It would be a lot easier if it was checkering, but it isn't.

Conamyds is made up of cones milled, in rows, into the surface of the metal...this is a SIG 220

You could likely find a smith with a mill and even likely to have a fixture for the 1911...but what he'd have to be willing to fabricate is the bit to cut the cones.

The closest I've experienced in appearance is the Golfball texture and the closest in function is the STI (as opposed to the Ed Brown) Chain Link...both on 1911s
