Buy a .22 Hornet and do not look back. Get into reloading if you are not already. I re-load the .22 Hornet for less than the cost of .22 Magnum rimfire or .17 magnum rimfire.

take a look at the Savage model 40 Varmint hunter in 22 hornet. mine shoots m.o.a. groups ar 100yds with 40gr V-Max 12.3 grs Hodgdon L'il Gun.
has nice Boyds laminated stock beaver tail forearm, with the extra swivel stud for bipod, scope mounts, also comes with the Acu-trigger, can be set to 2lbs no creep, breaks clean no gritty feeling.

+ you could have it reamed to K-Hornet later if you wanted 218 Bee performance.
+ rifle with scope< 8 lbs.
+ costs $385.00
+ get a lot of reloads out of 1# powder
+ no recoil or muzzle blast
_ it's a single shot

Here's a shot of my CZ-527 22 K-Hornet

It went to another THR member to finance my latest 22 hornet

Burning 11 grains of Lil Gun, you can get a lot of rounds from a pound of powder.

thanks guys

im definately addicted to the small bores, i dont want another gun chambered in a caliber i already have, thats no fun, and the cz looks just dont strike me, i have been thinking about a 799 in 22 hornet, but if lord willing and the creek dont rise i will end up with one before too long, i know there all overkill for squirrel but i really do hate the little buggers and am addicted to that red mist!!!

besides f you think about it, im not eating them so it is the most humane way to send em off, they never even heard the shot.
