Need a rifle in 270 Win. Please recommend!

I'm looking for a "sniper-ish" rifle. 270 winchester. Preferably with a 5 round mag. 24"+ HEAVY barrel. 1 MOA or less at 100 yards.

I'm looking at Tikka T3 Varmin, but I'm not sure if I can get it here in 270 Win.

Please recommend!!!

I see your point., Well I can tell you you cannot go wrong with a Tikka.

or a Weatherby Sub-Moa in .270 has a 24 '' barrel both are good rifles.

To get a really accurate, HB .270 under $1K, you may have to look at getting a T/C Encore with an E.A.B.Co. premium, SSK, or Bulberry barrel. But it's an interesting question....

270 is a great caliber, you are correct. Unfortunately, though, the bullets in the caliber are mostly oriented toward deer hunters, so the ammunition may not be conducive to finer shooting. Having said that, 270 is my second choice target caliber, after 30-06, so I understand your interest.

Maybe consider a Savage 110FP in 25-06?

The savage is a good rifle and will almost certainly be accurate enough, but it needs some tweaking for target work. the barrels aren't exactly heavy in the 270 rifles either. Come to think of it, I can't think of any heavy-barrel 270 under a grand-it's just not a popular match caliber for some reason.

Don't forget: Berger recently came out with its three new .277 LR bullets, so I wouldn't be too surprised if we started seeing some "precision/tactical/sniper/LR" factory rifle offerings in .270 Win and .270 WSM soon.
