I'm looking for more options as far as carrying a 442. I've primarily tried smartcarry, renegade ankle holster, barami hip grips, cheapie uncle mike's iwb, and numerous pocket holsters. what are some other deep concealment type holsters that have worked for you with something of this size/weight?

my favorites have been pocket holsters, but i have pretty muscular legs and they make the gun print unless i'm wearing really baggy pants. smart carry i like a lot because i can always see if i'm printing. i don't always have the best posture so i don't need to always be worried whether i'm printing in the back. i also like the hip grips except my gun starts rusting if i start sweating.

what are some other options to try? specific brands/models would be appreciated.

I carry a 442 in a Covert Carry, but I carry it to the right of my belt buckle. I guess it all depends on how a person is built and how much squatting they have to do. Me? I have more behind than belly, so I can get away with it - I even use a Covert Carry from time to time to carry a BHP in the same so-called appendix position. The holster is made so your shirt tucks down between the gun and the belt clip.

I've used it as a pocket holster with the 442 in baggy pants or shorts, too.

I don't know that I would have tried this holster, but I kept seeing him at the gun show and finally stopped for a chat and demonstration. All of mine are the undyed neutral color.

The Covert Carry is next to last...

Sorry, pocket carry in an Uncle Mike's pouch does the job for me. Or in a jacket pocket. A SmartCarry works, but I usually use that for a larger/heavier gun.

Thanks for the responses. I just noticed that there are 2 other threads going on right now about CCW options for J-frames! Sorry about that. Thanks for the advice, I'll have to check out the Covert Carry next!

Pleated pants help with pocket carry, too. I usually carry the j-frame in a Galco Ankle Glove - very comfy. I used to carry it in a pocket, but got a kel-tec for the slimmer profile. Some people prefer the Kramer Confident Shirt holster, but understand that concealing that deeply slows down your draw.

Have been using a 442 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster for years now. Not perfect but good enough. Used a UM belt pouch for a bit but in the end didn't care for it that much. Used an ankle rig off and on for some years with a M37 which is of course the same thing. OK but worked best with boots.

Frankly "printing" is probably overexaggerated. I have carried concealed daily since 1972 and no one has ever come up and asked me if I was packing. And 95% of the time that was with either a .45 auto or 4" wheelgun, strong side belt carry under a suit coat or jacket.

Most of the public is clueless and wouldn't notice if you were leading a zebra around on a lead rope. LEOs generally have enough on their minds to start with and are trolling for BGs who concern them a lot more than you do.

Out here most people have a gun around somewhere and nobody cares anyway.

So just be low profile and check six.
