I have an antique single shot pistol with a repaired cracked grip, I'm looking for someone to replicate the grip, it's a monogrip, so I can shoot the gun, it's fully functional except for the grip, any suggestions?

Is it branded or a one off? If branded, I'd try the usual suspects, https://www.gunpartscorp.com/, etc.

You might also try to improve on the repair if all pieces of the grip are still present. If you just want function, a 3D printer might be your friend.

What, exactly, is the handgun in question? There is NO standard answer to your question. A picture might help, enormously.

I think he is looking for a custom grip maker to send the gun to and have grips made for it.

Perhaps this guy may be able to help if you call him? I have seen his contender grips and they are really nice.

    I think it does matter.

If it is a Contender, you can probably buy those off the shelf. If it is a commonly reproduced historical piece, it also may be available.

On the other hand, just being a woodworker that makes grips may not help. Forum member Olympus makes wood grips. I suspect he needs to know what gun it is before he determines whether he would make a grip for the OP.

He said he wanted someone to replicate the grip he has. So you send the whole gun to someone who makes grips and ask them to reproduce it.

It's not a Contender and although similar, the grips from the T/C can't be made to work, it's a H&R single shot and last made in 1937, I inherited it from my uncle who actually made the frame I have as he was a gunsmith for them for a few yrs, before becoming a ranger in WW2.

I never meant to try to use contender grips. Just need to find someone that makes wood grips and ask them if they can do it.

DSCN1217.JPG This is what I need a functional replacement, so as not to destroy the original, and it's a 1937 made and for model it only says R & D #14 placed there by my uncle, as he made/assembled it.

That's neat. What caliber is the barrel in?

Why I'm looking for someone with the skill to make one, and they're not all interchangeable, they were made from 1932 to 1937 and minor differences from year to year made the grips year specific, mine's a 37 and $98 for another cracked grip that may or may not fit is an expensive gamble!

It has a 20" 410 barrel and originally had a wire like stock that attached to the rear of the grip, was submitted to ATF to qualify as a legal shotgun, but was denied in 1939. So it's registered as an AOW.

You may contact Lew at [email protected]

Let him know his classmate Gary sent you. I don't receive a commission (nor do I want one) but he lets me use his shop when I have to cut chips (metal).

Robhof, can you post a picture of the crack? It might be repairable and the grips look in fair condition to me.
