need help choosing a barrel

Im trying to get a custom barrel for a thompson center encore pistol in .308win...
the problem is they ask me for a twist rate but i have no idea what to choose
im getting a 15 inch bull barrel and shoot market brand loads like Federal, Hornady, Remington, and so on... i do not do reloading and do not make custom ammo so i do not know wich twist rate will be best out of a 15 inch barrel
so what should be the best twist rate for my barrel?
remember its a 15 inch bull barrel no muzzle break and shooting market brand loads, no custom reloads just market brand hunting/sporting loads
 
Which bullet brand/weight/type do you expect to use? 150gr? 165gr? 180gr? Ballistic Tip? Barnes TTSX? Nosler Partitions?

Bullet length will dictate 'optimal' twist rate. 1-10" for longer bullets, 1-12" for shorter bullets are good rules of thumb to use.

sorry for the multiple posts... just wasnt sure were to post this question... i want my moneys worth so i want to be certain of wich is the best twist rate... my father said he had lots of .308 ammunition made from LAPUA wich were the number one best ammunition to use in his custom built ar-15 and were the few best market loads available to the public to buy, unfortunatley he gave it all away when he sold his ar and we dont think LAPUA sells those same rounds to the public anymore, must have to be ordered from LAPUA

im just explainin one of the rounds i would be shooting if they were still available to the public...
 
To quote a barrel man of the past.

"you CAN NOT over stabalize a bullet!"

So what is the heaviest Bullet you may shoot? and go from there.

If you may shoot 180 or 200grain bullets, go with the 1in10 twist.

If you will never shoot the heavey bullets, and also handcuff yourself to the use of lighter (150 and less) bullets go with a slower twist.
 
can someone give me a good process for barrel break in process. approx. how manny shots needed and how to clean and the barrel b4 another shot and so on and so forth
as for bullet weight im just shooting whatever.. anything i can find on the shelves and from there on out shoot whatever shoots best for my firearm
 
Handgunner308, Welcome, you need to learn to use the Search feature you have a lot of questions and many have been answered for you already.
 
no there is no step by step real answer to my question ive searched the forums and didnt find much just discussions about it
 
I may be wrong but don't believe in barrel break in, however I do believe in sighting your gun in with a cold bore or hot bore. Honestly unless you're a super sniper or long range hunter it really isn't a matter either way.

Using a 15" barrel you are limiting yourself anyway, to get a full powder burn you really need at least a 20".
