Marlin 1892, .22 cal., octagon bbl., straight grip, ser # 444196. If someone could accurately tell me the year of manufacture it would be most appreciated. Have conducted net searches with no luck & received oodles of different "guesses" from other sites. thanks.

The way i read that link looks like ser. # info goes only to 355xxx which won't do me any good. They also say that they do not have info after 1906.

Try the Marlin forum at Rimfirecentral.com
There may well be a denizen of that locale who may be helpful.
