All my usual internet sources for buying .45 ammo are "out of stock." Anybody know of any reputable websites that still have ammo in stock?

thanks

Appreciate the quick response. Not looking to hoard, I just want to go out a shoot some targets.

You're welcome. Usually the AmmoEngine shows far more ammunition than it currently does. I buy very little factory ammunition, and then only every five years or so, but their site is an indicator of how supplies are becoming exhausted.

The same is true for hand loading supplies, but we generally buy in lots of 1,000 or more so we're insulated to some extent. But powder and primers are pretty much gone too.

Down here (southern NM) everybody's been out of nearly everything for weeks. A few calibers are starting to turn up again, but not in any quantity -- I paid almost $20 for 100 rounds of Federal 22lr (the standard stuff that's normally $15-20 for 525) the other day

I realize it's not for everybody, but if there ever was a reason to become independent of the factories and roll your own, now is the time. There are, of course, up front costs and a learning curve, but the end result is worth the effort. Same goes for casting; I've been doing both since the early '70s.

I feel for you guys that can't find what you want, or have to pay utterly outrageous prices, but when I open my ammunition locker the sight just warms my heart.

My brother in law who handloads tells me components are gone too. Once this dies down I'll be making a point of keeping enough on hand to ride out the next one.

Some are, mostly primers and powder; no idea about bullets since I make my own. But generally both of those are bought in bulk ... say 5,000 primers and two four pound kegs of powder. At least that's how my shooting circle does it. Generally I order about double that since I'm retired and have plenty of "hobby time".

The point is, if you hand load and maintain your stock, there's no such thing as a shortage. Of course if you've a casual reloader and run dry of components you're in the same boat with the ammunition buyers ... I'm a dedicated hand loader. How's that old saying go, "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." Best not to be fooled when it comes to components and magazines.

I'm in Tehachapi, CA. Small town. Finally just backordered some on Sinclair's website. Maybe I will see them in a month:banghead:
