My friend at work kept asking me about old Shotgun, I told him get me the serial number and I'd find out all there is to know, Well this old belgum made 12 g. doesn't have a serial number on it, I've disassambled it and most old the peices look hand made, on both sides of the gun it says " J J Weston" I was hoping some of you had heard of this or knew somthing about it, He's not interested in its value it's a family Heirloom, but we would like to know how old it is.

I am taking the digital camera to work tonight and I am going to take pictures to post, but its a side by side double barrel 12 guage, with the dual Hammers and two triggers, beautiful old gun, and it has a very nice engraving on the butt plate of a deer and looks like hunting dogs.

We know it at least 70 years old, the old man who passed it on said the last time he rememberd it being fired was when he was 7 years old!

I hope some of you can help, I know its not like a rare collector probably but they would like to more about their shtogun.

    Thanks!

I find two listings for the Weston Shotgun:

Under tradenames, it states that J.J. Weston was a tradename used by H&D Folsom on shotguns they retailed in/around the 1900's.

SXS's of the World also has a listing which I have attached.

    yet another,

It aslo has an odd finish to it, it looks like red stain, it is definetly not Oxidized metal, its actually in nice shape but its even and done well enough to be a factory job, but I've blued guns for a while now and its nothing I've seen before, but then again I normally only plays with the modern firearms...
