I purchesed a rifle at a garage sale yesterday that strongly resembles a german mauser and would like any info i could get on it like how much its worth, where it was made and when etc. On the barrel it has the markings CAI ST. ALB. VT and under that its marked M1916 308win I got the rifle and 160 rds of ammo for 120 dollers it seemed like a good deal to me but let me hear what you think.

What you got was a Spanish mauser carbine that was converted from 7mm to 7.62 Nato. Considering that you got $80 worth of ammo with it, you did extremely well. I have one also and paid a bit more for mine. Mine is a great shooter and yours should be also if it was taken care of. A number of people will criticize Spanish metalwork of this era, but I've not known anyone with any trouble with these rifles. I am extremely happy with mine.
Congratulations.

Im also curious if anyone could give me an idea about how much its worth i dont plan on parting with it id just like to know
