I picked up a colt automatic target elite. This has the 10” barrel. I cannot find any information on it. It is NOT for sale. I am looking for info and possible value though. This is just going to be a collection gun for us. I can’t figure out how to get pictures to upload.

I've never seen or heard of one either, which means I really ought to keep my mouth shut and listen. It seems weird there is nothing on the Internet; the Woodsman is a heavily collected gun.

Here is the Colt 22 automatic subforum of a Colt collectors online forum: https://www.coltforum.com/forums/colt-22-semiauto-pistol.106/ They should either know something, or be baffled on a higher level than I am. They will at least know approximately when the basic Woodsman model with this style of slide hold-open, mag release, etc. was being made. Of course, so will people here.

Please let us know if the Colt guys tell you anything, because I think people here would like to know. I sure would.

PS - My 3 guesses are Colt prototype, Colt custom order, or complete aftermarket job. Guesses don't help you a bit, but they make me feel like a knowledgable person. :)

Monac, you clearly have what it takes to be an Internet Expert(TM)! Trust me, it's fun! and it's the internet, so nobody knows you're a dog! :p

    Second series, made in 1950s.
Barrel length and sight location are very custom or special order.

That was my thought too. I have a second generation 6" barrel made in 1954. Not a safe queen.
