I currently carry a primary handgun and a BUG. My primary carry weapon is a Glock 20 SF loaded with 10mm 230gr. WFNGC Hardcast ammo. I was looking around on www.doubletapammo.com for choices on my BUG ammo. Because of the extremely fine quality and dependablility of DT ammo, I wanted to go with the same type of vibe ammo-wise I do with my BUG that I have with my primary handgun. What do you guys think of this load as a SD load?

9mm+P 147gr FMJ Flat Point

BTW, overpenetration is NOT an issue to me. I do not care about overpenetration. I believe that a DEEPER wound channel is MORE important than a LARGE wound channel. Bottom line.

Any *positive* feedback would be appreciated! :D
Any *negative* feedback will be discounted! :p

For my own learning purposes, I would like to know your thought process. I know you prefer better penetration, but...

I'm not understanding your choice of ammo for self-defense against humans. Your main ammo is DT 10mm 230gr WFNGC. You would be wasting the power of that fine ammo due to over penetration. You can achieve ample penetration and a wide wound channel with DT's 10mm 180gr JHP for example.

Why do you prefer DT's flat point over their hollow point? DT's 9mm 115gr JHP or 124gr JHP would go plenty deep enough. It's not like that ammo is going to expand at the clothing and then bounce off.

ChCx2744 You don't hunt do you? If you did you would know that the HC ammo is for breaking bone in dangerous game not stopping and killing quickly. Most of the energy from that HC ammo will go down range not in the target . That 10mm round in a hp that might stay in the target will put the target down and out. Stay away from fmj anything for saveing your life. Look to something that will stay in a body. Some departments are useing win. 147gr hp subsonics with great one shoot stops and others like 124gr gold dots. For protection hornady 115 or 124 critical defence. Got to under stand the design and reason for a bullet design. I have used HC for hogs for years and they will plant a hog or bear if they are shot in the shoulders or head . You miss that shot and hit them in the chest and you may find that hog or bear , may have to get a trail dog to find it. Or wait for the buzzards.
