I want a budget priced Illuminated Mil Dot Scope, around $300 or so. At a gun show a dealer had some called NcSTAR, looked good, priced around $175
Made in China. He said had lifetime warranty. I will place the new scope on a sporterized 03. Hope someone here has some experience with these and can give first hand advice, or a recommendation. Thanks in advance

Budget Priced Mil Dot IR's are a dime a dozen and you take your chances they are all made in China. I own a few that I'm happy with. The best one I have is $69 at Wal Mart. Centerpoint 4x16-44mm IR. A big scope with target knobs etc...here it is on my Mossberg ATR 30-06.

Don't waste your money on the Chinese junk. You won't be happy with it. The clicks won't be repeatable, and the quality of the glass and electronics is typical Wal-Mart Chinese grade. To qualify my statements, I have first hand experience and advice though it's painful to think of the number of dollars I've wasted on low quality optics.

For only $30 more than your mentioned budget you can get a quality Nikon 3.5-10x50 Monarch UCC. Here.

I rate nc star as the lowest quality optics made , ever. BSA is just one step above that, now I have a busnell Banner- dusk/dawn series with a green/red IR, and it is darn fine. You might give that a whirl.

Yeah I have had an NCstar with illuminated dot. I gave it away in the PIF thread.

I have a buddy at work that loves his bushnell banners. I think they would be worth a look.

A lot of scope makers are putting their name on Chinese imports including Burris and Nikon.
